(no subject)

It's been a busy day for our young Hellspawn. He's been out by the lake, swimming and generally keeping himself in shape. Which is why he hasn't noticed anything until now. But, everyone ahs to come in sometime, and he comes in now, mask firmly affixed.

And almost immediately leaves again. Almost. His hand is on the door as his pale face scans the room, eyes clouded.

You see, it's rather easy for any wizard to pick up on magic. And one of the earliest and most powerful sources for magic has always been the natural cycle. Which is going on, everywhere, right now. Fuckbeans.

Yes, there is a lot of wild magic thanks to it, but... this many women, all going through? Oh god, the boy is scared.

She drops one of her hands, the other pinching the bridge of her nose as though warding of a headache. "Two or three times a year."

"Time skews here, a little." She smiles wryly. "Next time I vanish without a trace, and without warning, you could assume that's why. Might not be true, but..."

She winces a little. "...I find it's generally in everyone's best interest if I avoid people, actually."

"I'm a genetically engineered killing machine," she says flatly. "Irrationality is bad."

She's standing a little more stiffly than usual, physically remote. "Not really. I prefer not to base choices on overwhelming biological imperatives."

"Most sentient species do have some choice in the matter." It's a bit of a touchy subject. "I don't like being out of control. It's a thing."

She smiles faintly. "Besides, feline reproductive patterns in a human? It doesn't happen. I don't like being reminded a few times every year that I can't be normal."

"...You may have a point there." She says it rather reluctantly.

"Yeah. I was one of 'em."

There is a faint bit of emphasis on the past tense there.

"Not really. Curse variation - my mind wasn't really my own." She smiles wryly. "I...don't really have much luck with that sort of thing. Besides, if I was going to choose an animal to be, I think it would have wings."

She blinks once, startled. And then laughs. "I should learn not to say anything. At all. Ever."

"Uh-oh."

She yelps and squirms away, swatting lightly at his hands. Yep, she's ticklish.

"Stop that!"

[identity profile] transgenic-max.livejournal.com 2006-02-19 06:37 am (UTC)(link)
"Gah! No tickling! Evil!"

It is hard to look properly outraged while laughing. She does her best.

And, of course, retaliates. Because it's sort of necessary.
