What? Did you think this wouldn't touch the animal patrons as well?
Looks like human[oid] females aren't the only ones cycling in the bar this month.
There's a large, cougar-like cat roaming between the tables, yowling, screaming and, every now and then, will roll about on the floor the way you've seen housecats do.
It would appear that being around a large number of hormonal women has caused Tasha to come into heat. Or rather, the scent of dozens of women going through their monthly cycles has caused her to come into heat. Or maybe it's empathy that's led her to this state.
Then again it could just be a funny case of coincidence that Ian's lir is in estrus and acting very friendly to everyone, rubbing against them and purring loud enough to pass for a car engine.
Either way, there's a cat who's perhaps the only one enjoying this time of the month - much to Ian's chagrin.
[This post weirds me out in all sorts of ways and that's why I have to write it.

Who is magical.
But does not do the shapeshifting around here.
That's Ian's job; blessing or curse that it is...
And oh look she's coming this way. ^__________^!!

—she butts his side and rubs her chest cavity against his legs—
Let's hope he's strong enough to remain standing after that.

He then put his hands out to try to push her away, "Oy, clear off!" His strategy was not working well. Skinny guy out of shape, and biiiig kitty, yeah, the odds were against him.
no subject
Which wouldn't be so bad if she weighed around ten or so pounds.
Tasha weighs fifteen times that amount.
And she's not easily put off either.
This person she likes particularly.
It might be the magic she senses coming from him.
Or something.

Draco was standing, and then backing away, looking for an exit or escape from huuuuge kitty.
"What do you want?" He whined a little.
no subject
With fake teeth and claws.
And glass eyes.
I want to be your friend, she purrs, forgetting that no one save Ian can hear her. You are such a nice boy. A kind boy...
no subject
The purring was rather reassuring, even though giant cat that might want to eat or kill him... Then again, she seemed to be acting very oddly.
He stopped backing up, and went to tentatively pet the large cat on the head, still being wary.
no subject
But if anyone is looking, he can just blame the cat. All one has to do is say "She started it!" and likely anyone who's been in contact with the rather amorous beast will believe you.
Oh nice boy he gives scratches? she rumbles as her head bumps against Draco's hand.
It's a hard bump too; not at all the sort of thing your kitty would give you when she's feeling friendly.
no subject
Of course, and he readily say that, and will direct blame to the guilty party. The cat of course.
Draco was a bit jostled by the bump, and eyed the cat warily. He continued to scratch and pet the large cat, but something just seemed odd about all this.
"Right, good cat... hope you're not hungry or anything..." he remarked offhand.
no subject
Tasha's not hungry, just a little... Well, you know.
"Oh gods not another one," Ian grumbles in the Old Tongue as he makes his way over to the cat and the boy the cat is inadvertently squashing.
no subject
"Aaaagh!" He yelped as he fell to the ground.
He heard footsteps, and there was a faint cry of ""
no subject
"Young man did she harm you?" Ian asks. "I am sorry if she did. Normally Tasha is better behaved than this."
no subject
Draco hastily stood up, and dusted himself off.
"Besides knocking me to the floor?" Brief glare. "Yes."
"And I should hope so, she's seems rather mad at the moment." Not that he's really one to talk about being mad...
no subject
"Oh Tasha is not mad, young man. She is merely in heat. I am afraid she has forgotten that she is much larger than other cats are.
And the results of that are plain to be seen."
no subject
However, he very nearly facepalmed at that.
So instead there was a disgusted, "She wanted to...ugggghhh..." Hey! Now his face is green. Silver blond hair, green face, you'd think he was getting Slytherin House spirit again with the combo.
no subject
"No young man; Tasha is far too intelligent to see you—or any human being for that matter—as a mate."
He smiles, but it's a fractured smile. He does laugh though. A little.
"Lir in particular are choosy about their mates. She is simply being affectionate. To be honest, this is Tasha restrained."
Hahahaha!no subject
Draco then stared, "That was restrained? I'm lucky she didn't try to jump on me or claw me!"
no subject
The smile becomes a little less brittle.
"You are obviously not a threat, and as such she is simply being generous with her affections.
It will pass soon enough, and she will be better behaved than you currently see her."

"A lir is an animal that the gods give to each Cheysuli warrior when they leave boyhood behind and become men of the clan. They may be any animal—wolf, fox, mountain cat, like Tasha is—or a bird, like a hawk or a falcon. And through them we can access the earth magic, which, among other things, allows us to shift our shapes."
He smiles at Tasha.
"We are bonded, Tasha and I, and that bond is for life. While I live, she lives. For however long the gods grant us life.
Unless fate decides otherwise and takes her—through death—from me. That, young man, has its price..."

Through all this Tasha listens intently, acquiring some of her old self back.
"You can always tell what animal a warrior can become by looking at his animal. As Tasha is a mountain cat, so too am I when in lir-shape."
To think that two seperate worlds could have a few things in common, but then, that's fantasy for you...
no subject
"Good form actually." He added approvingly about the lir-shape.
Yep, univeral themes or authors getting similiar ideas and inspirations.
