Here's a sweet sight: brother- and sister-in-law having tea and a chat by the fireplace while Neice plays at their feet.

"Hello," says Karen, nodding. Megan likes her--that's five points in Faith's favor already.

Faith lifts the bebe and laughs at Charlie. "Byron I'm not, dear, but thanks for the compliment."

She holds out a hand to Karen, smiling. "Nice to meet you, finally. I should have guessed you're Megan's mom, I can see some resemblance."

Karen shakes her hand, smiling too. "Thanks. I think she looks mostly like Liam--and she has the Pace eyes, definately."

Charlie makes a face at Megan, pulling down his bottom eyelids and sticking out his tongue. She giggles.

"Well, yes." Faith snorts at Charlie. "But Megan's prettier than Uncle Charlie, aren't you, honey? 'Course you'd have to be, really..."

She teases because she loves.

"Yis!" Megan chirps, and Charlie nods in concession. Karen just shakes her head at them.

[ooc: go ahead and skip Charlie.]

Faith tweaks Megan's nose, playfully.

"Liam said you're going to have another one, soon. I'm afraid I gave him a scare by bringing up the b word. 'B-o-y-s,' that is."

Karen blinks, surprised, and looks at Charlie, who just shrugs.

"We haven't even conceived yet. It's a bit early to be making announcements.

"Though I wouldn't mind a b-o-y, myself."

Faith looks mischievous. "Well, it was more the idea of the ones that will be someday be calling on this one and Daughter Number two, if there is one, that I think scared him."

"Oh, those kinds of boys . . ." She laughs. "I'm not excited about that myself but there's a good decade before it becomes an issue. Promise Mummy," she says to Megan, who nods solemnly as if she understood the conversation. "No bringing home boys for Daddy to scare."

Faith laughs, too. "I promised Liam if he needed any help intimidating them I would be available. I know I don't look scary, but just ask Charlie, I have my moments."

"Aye," says Charlie to Karen's skeptical look. "It's a lesson well-learned in Milliways: do not misjudge the tinycute."

Though he feels Faith is more sexy than cute, but tinysexy doesn't have the same ring.

"I am neither tiny nor cute, thank you," Faith says, with dignity. "I am five and a half feet tall, and a person who can bend steel barehanded should not be called 'cute.'"

"You are a giant among women," Charlie says solemnly, though he's exactly the same height and knows he's considered rather wee on the scale of things.

As for the barehanded bendy . . . well, yes.

"Darn right," Faith affirms, and nods.

Clearly, Charlie is not immune to Faith's powers of Skerry.

Charlie respects Faith's power of Skerry. Respects like a fox.

"Hopefully Megan will get Liam's height. And any other wee ones that come along," he adds with a look at Karen, who maintains an innocent 'who, me?' expression.

"Hopefully." Faith is silent for a second, then she gives Karen an apologetic look. "Liam did tell me you'd only just decided, now that I think of it. I've...had a lot on my mind, recently. I apologize."

"That's all right," Karen says gently. "I know he's excited about it."

"He did have a rather dorky grin on his face, yeah."

Karen laughs outright. "I like his dorky grin," she murmurs and twists her wedding ring.

"He's easy on the eyes, sure. Runs in the family, I guess." Faith winks at Charlie.

Charlie preens. "See what I mean about the tinycute? We rule all."

"Rule me, certainly."

And there's a smirk in the voice even if you can't see the man smirking.

Karen starts. "Who--oh. Is that your invisible boyfriend again?"

"Come out, come out, wherever you are," Charlie says, beaming.

"I'm right here, dork," and he turns visible in time to wrap arms around Charlie's shoulders and kiss the back of his head.

"Hey." he greets the rest of the assembled. Excepf for Megan, who gets a pat to the head and the very simple beginnings of a Secret Handshake.

Megan grins and giggles--Darien is her favorite of Uncle Charlie's friends.

"Hello, light of my life," Charlie says dryly, tilting back his head.

[ooc: heading home in 5.]

"Hello, beautiful," he corrects smoothly.

"Much, much better," Charlie says and cuddles into him. "What've you been up to?"

He shrugs.

"Nothing much. I was outside for a little while. Did some stuff in a tree. You?"

He gestures to Karen. "Catching up. Filling in the details of my sordid past and what I did during the year of my supposed death."

"It's been fascinating," Karen adds. "If not always child-friendly."

Charlie tries to look abashed. He fails.

"Well... no, not really."

A kiss to Charlie's cheek. All very up and up.

"But we love him anyway."

Charlie grins and cuddles deeper into Darien, very pleased.

Whisk.

That is the sound of Darien nabbing a Charlie and waving briskly before carting him off.

"See you guys later," Charlie calls, waving. "When he lets me come up for air."

Karen waves back and calls Megan to her. "Time to go home, honey. Charlie and Darien are going to, um, play some grownup games now."
