Jane comes down from her rooComing down the stairs to the Bar, Jane is amazed by the buzz in the bar tonight. She raises an eyebrow at it. convinced that it is another play or death or other somesuch drama as Milliways is wont to have. Her interest is caught, however, by the large notice in regards to bar tabs. One quick glance gardners her the knowledge that her tab is extravegant, and more pressingly, she is unable to afford to pay any of it. She orders a cup of tea to steady herself, but her hands are obviously trembling, resulting in the cup rattling on its saucer. She must think as to how to solve this problem and with all rapidness. She does not fancy being a pauper once again.

"By whom? And for what purpose? and what precisely do you want of me?"
Jane is tired, but remains wary.

"I can tell you neither of the first two answers. They would be meaningless to you." She retracts her fingers.

"As for the third, I am trying to understand emotions ..."

Jane would shrug if it were culturally appropriate.
"What are you trying to uderstand about me? I assure you I am not that intereting."

"Your hands were shaking. Why?"

"I owe a large sum of money that I do not have. I dislike being in others' debt, in any way."

"So what emotion were you feeling?" She tilts her head curiously.

"Fear."
She says it coldly and directly.

"Thank you." She smiles.

Jane is still wary. "Why do you wish to know?"

"To understand you humans better."

"It is usually more profitable to befriend a person first, and then in confidence ask them such things. Such blatant interrogation is inappropriate. Our emotions are our own and should be kept as such; my shaking hands were simply a breech in proper behaviour."

"If your emotions are your own, and so private, why do you broadcast them so?"

Jane is slightly surprised at this and quirks an eyebrow.
"I cartainly do not."

"You broadcast your anger with the shaking hands ..."

"My anger?" Jane is rather confused.

"Fear, excuse me." She waves a hand as if to wipe away her mistake.

"It is a small gesture, and a gesture of emotion you could not identify. I could have ben simply tired or nervous."

"Perhaps. But there are also facial expressions which register emotions as well, are there not?"

"I agree perfectly. Yet it is inappropriate to show said emotions. Any such non-deliberate actions is unacceptable."

"If they are non-deliberate, how can you prevent yourself from showing them?"

Jane looks at her, face perfectly calm and still, hands and face betraying no emotion whatsoever.
"Practice and necessity. Careful schooling."

"Necessity?"

"Necessity." jane is certainly not going to reveal anything about her past to this woman, not at all.

"What makes it necessary?"

"It is inappropriate to show emotions."
