Doyle's lounging on a couch by the fire. His eyes are closed, though he's not really sleeping. He's fully aware of what is around him. And while his eyes are closed, he wouldn't mind an interruption.

::Me too!:: Nate sang happily ::She tells stories!::
Rachel can't help but simply chuckle and flip the end of Doyle's braid almost teasingly across his nose before letting it be ::Welcome, I'd hate to see you needing to cut it::
no subject
There's a wiggle of his nose and then a wince at the mention of cutting his precious hair. ::Cutting it would be a bad, painful thing to do.:: Not that it would be physical pain, but you get the drift.
He gives a small lift of a brow. ::Stories? What kind of stories?::
no subject
The heroic struggles, the betrayal of the monkies...the giraffe's last stand...
...and the happy, happy fish.
::Picture stories! About princes and wars and swords and shadows and fighting and possession and colors and blood and tears and smiles and...::
::It would be a shame:: Rachel agreed quietly, weaving her words in a slightly "higher" stream than Nate's babble. ::You wouldn't be the only one hurt to see it cut::
no subject
There's an idle nod of Doyle's head because he's listening to both. ::In my Court, it is a punishment to have a sidhe's hair cut. And it would take forever to grow back.:: Not like he doesn't have the time, but that isn't the point.
He turns his attention back to Nate for a moment. ::What else besides stories does she do?::
no subject
::It was...alot like that in the camps. Your head was shaved when ever you annoyed a guard or whenever you were punished. If your headwas shaved it was that much harder to earn what small comforts being a whore could buy:: she shrugged.
Nate's eyes gleamed with childish delight, even as more crackers pun through the air ::She makes me take abath, and she makes me eat real food...and she loves me. She's really good at that:: he admitted proudly.
no subject
Doyle grins. ::Well baths and real food are important to grow up strong.:: Okay, so maybe baths aren't important to growing up to be strong, but you learn to love them, and they become more enjoyable. ::Love is always something that people and children should have.::
no subject
Nate wrinkled his face at themention og good baths and bopped another cookie towards Doyle. ::Water is fun:: he admitted ::But not as fun as animal crackers! Unless there's bubbles...:: the childish thoughts sobered somewhat, the menta "tone" seeming to age incredible for the next comment ::Yes. Should. I love her and it helps her not be so sad. I'm a good brother::
no subject
Doyle catches the cookie, though it did come close to hitting him. And despite something being bopped at him, he's smiling. He gives a small bow of his head. ::Not being sad is a good thing. No one should be sad. And being a good brother is even better.::

Her mother's memories...
::For the sake of peace in the universe, never, ever let me follow you through a door home:: she chuckled, but there's a steely edge to the thought.
As for Nate, well, he rather enjoys people with a decent set of reflexes. It'd make an interestng game to see just how many cookies could be intercepted...in fact, the flotila is gearing up for an aerial strike when he begins to mull over Doyle's words. ::Some people should::
no subject
He's eyeing the cookies, watching to see what will happen next with them. No one ever really knows with a child. ::Why should some people be sad?::
no subject
The cookies, oddly, fall to the floor and stay there, storm clouds gathering upon the toddlers face ::Some people are bad::
no subject
Doyle leans forward slightly, watching Nate a little carefully. ::Yes, they are. But that doesn't mean that they should always suffer for it.::
[ooc: AIM! you need to be on AIM!!!]
no subject
Nate...leaned forward, obviously being secretive as he glanced up at his sister. The words that come now seem tight, controlled, probably shielded from his sister ::Some do:: he sent bitterly, flashes of memories leaking through, dark blood and pain...and his sister.
[Can't :( D&D and all, I'm sneaking between stuff..you nee dto tag Liz into PLot though!]
no subject
There's a small sympathetic smile. Because really, he feels that children shouldn't be able to know of such things. ::You know far more than you should, little one.:: And there's a dark hand to ruffle Nate's hair in an attempt to lighten the mood somewhat.
[ =( Tomorrow, you be on? And, I shall, I wanted to talk to you before I threw her in!]
no subject
::Don't tell Rachel:: he stated soberly. ::She hid most of it and I can't reach the rest:: he sighed, the cookies slowly rising once more.
[Should! We've got the arrival bit paused for Liz *nods happily*]
no subject
There's a small nod, because if that's what he really wants Doyle will hold to it. Especially since the child had an adult attitude towards the matter. ::So how many different animals are there in the group of crackers.:: He's smooth in changing the subject.
[tagged! and I can't believe I missed all the fun you guys had last night. *sighs*]
no subject
::Every kind!:: he laughed hapily, letting the shadowed thoughts slide away. After all, until recently, Nate was far, far older...sometimes even now he remembers that.
[*cuddles* Wasn't so much really! I just got the plot outline up and the few arrival tags *nods* we was waitin for you!]
no subject
He gives a grin at Rachel. ::Is that all he'd eat if he could?::
[*huggles* I have read the outline, and can't wait for the eating of the Hunter part... *whistles innocently* thank you for waiting!]
no subject
::Yes:: she admitted, rolling her eyes with a fond smile. ::I wonder if he'll still love them a few weeks from now when he's grown up?::
no subject
::Depends on how much he eats now?:: He's heard of kids over eating a food and then hating when older. Could happen with these.
no subject
Rachel just sighed, carefully keeping an eye on any he actually eats instead of floating around. ::Wish he'd like something better for him:: strange coming from the woman who forgets to eat...
no subject
::Like rice or noodles?:: It's a genuinely curious question because he's not sure what's out there that kids might like and that's healthy.
no subject
::I honestly have no idea what kids eat:: she admitted quietly. ::Maybe apples or something? Those are healthier. And peanut butter::
no subject
He gives a small shrug to Rachel. ::That sounds about right? It's been so long since there has been a child in Court that I'm a little rusty on the small amount of knowledge I did posess once.::
no subject
::An entire court without kids?:: she asked softly. That...truly isn't healthy.
