Sometimes you feel like you're going to go stir-crazy if you're in too large a space.

Besides, somebody's got to make sure Niska's not prowling around the bar.

And Kaylee's in charge. For now, anyway.

So she's at a table near the middle of the room with a cup of coffee -- untouched -- and a pensive expression.

Well yeah, but now people pipe that stuff in on purpose and like, add guitars an' stuff. Oh an' screamin'. There's usually some screamin' too. Not like, for your life screamin', but just 'm really ticked screamin'.

'Sides, it could be just me she sings for. We kinda go long ways back, Baby an' me.

"Yeah?" That, strangely, elicits a small half-smile. "So they're not gonna go crazy after a week or so in there?"

Well, I wouldn't go that far. I mean, don't know any of'em well enough to know what'd happen when they couldn't leave the room to avoid any of the others. But I can say chances are it won't be Baby that pushes'em over the edge.

"...point." Yep. That'd be a grin. "Most of 'em are pretty well close to crazy already. So ain't like they got far to go."

That uh, the chick with the long hair. The one that don't talk in straight lines. It ain't bad that I let her in to see'em, is it? I mean, she ain't gonna go nutso...

Kaylee shakes her head. "Nope. River'd probably be more likely to raise a ruckus if you didn't let her in. She just wants to make sure they're all okay."

I gotta be honest, I'm kinda surprised the girl don't know how to pick a lock. Is that wrong?

There is considering of this.

"I don't know if she does or if she doesn't. She might, and maybe she just didn't think to do it. Or didn't think it'd do any good." Beat. "And hell, if somebody taught her she'd have it in five minutes anyhow."

Kinda gave that a passin' thought. I mean, I taught Ginny Weasley how, it really ain't all that hard. Just takes patience, an' not a whole lot 'cause I can do it.
