He takes her hand and kisses the back of it. He's nothing, if not well raised ancient Roman.

"Aubrey. A pleasure, I'm sure."

His manners are refreshing so her smile widens just that much more. With a bow of her head at a slight angle, "Likewise I'm sure."

"You looked terribly relaxed I hope I'm not disturbing you."

There's an idle shrug.

"I can still be terribly relaxed with your presence. It takes more to disturb my laziness, I assure you." And true to his word, he's got a boneless look to his reclining.

"So, what's a pretty thing like you doing here?"

"Glad to hear it." Sitting back a little mre relaxed herself andtaking a sip of her tea.

"Taking a break from my world. What about yourself?"

There's an irritated glance at where the door should be.

"Trying to figure out how to get home. There's no door, and I can bring myself there. It's oddly frustrating right now."

Amadna looks at the door and turns back to him with a sympathetic smile. She too has been there.

"Where is home for you?"

There's a small tilt of his head for thought, because he has a couple homes in a couple towns.

"New York. You?"

Such is a dilema that she knows all too well. Which is why she normally answers with the most current, "At the moment I live in London. 2006." she adds as an after thought.

This isn't so much his most current, because he frequents all of them, pending his mood. That's just his favorite. "2000 for me."

"I haven't been to London in ages. I think the last time I was there Henry VIII was king."

"Ahh, now that was an interesting time." grinning, "Much has changed since then."

There's a soft chuckle. "Cars, guns, people are more cramped into smaller spaces. And other things that make the time more interesting." There's a small tilt of his head. "Though I think I'll always miss the need to travel by horseback."

"Yes there is certainly a downside to all the technology. It was also easier to disapear." she thinks he understands that.

He does. It's hard to go for thousands of years and have the neighbors wonder why you look so much like your father, grandfather, great grandfather, etc. And then there's explaining why you have all this money when you are an only child and don't seem to have any living relatives.

"No one questioned about that man that lived a solitary life on the hill either. Now days, you have to register with the government and all that."

"Definetely. Though that isn't to say that those like us don't manage. Forged documents, hackers breaking into the computers and entering our data." with a chuckle, "People have become so accustomed to trusting computers it's almost comical." yes she find it amusing, "But I must say I enjoy indoor plumbing and current hygine."

"My time hasn't gotten completely reliable on computers just yet. Though, most of my kind don't really like computers either. We just end up creating our own cities and guard them from the general populace."

There's a nod of agreement. "Indoor plumbing and the current hygiene are much appreciated though. Sometimes I wonder why it wasn't invented sooner."

"Well some societies were ahead of there time in such things but things like that get forgotten and then remembered again. All in how civilizations evolve."

"Immortals on your world live together?" she smiles thinking of how wonderfula thing that could be.

"True. It's just the forgetting part that gets annoying. Except in battles and the like. Then it's entertaining to watch them make the same mistakes over and over, even when they know the history."

He gives a small shake of his head. "Vampires, though we are immortal. And yea we live together in some areas. Not always a good idea, as we tend to fight a lot, but it's better than nothing I guess."

"Yes they still haven't grasped the learn from history or your doomed to repeat it. Amazing how they don't understand howmuch things have changed and yet stayed the same." she has had conversations with mortals in the bar who have disagreed with her.

There's a soft chuckle. "I tend to find that it's more because while the world around us changes and evolves the thought process of most of humanity stays the same. Until they learn to think outside the box when it comes to war, then, maybe they won't repeat history."

There is no argument from Amanda there. "How very true. Unfortunately with todays technology many who control the choice choice of going to war or not are so far removed from it that they don't fully understand it."

There's a nod. "It was better in the old days when those that controled the choices rode with the rest of the men. They didn't sit in an office with a list of names of those who died, they watched the sword or spear go through and kill the men. Made war actually mean something back then."

"In the end the true losers are the innocent who are stuck in the middle of it all." she sighs, this topic is far too depressing at the moment, "There are somethings about this time that are enjoyable though. The exploration that has been done and there are at least in some places a reverence for the past."

There's a small shrug. Innocents don't bother him that much.
"True. It's interesting watching the exploration and watching them speculate what life was like that long ago. Electricity is useful. Guns, not so much. What's your favorite part of the present?"

Besides to afore mentioned in door plumbing which to be fair the Romans had had to an extent, "I would have to say the nightlife."

Lots of societies back then had advancements in certain areas. They've just been mostly forgotten. Like Ancient Egypt and their electricity. "Nightlife can be fun. Especially the clubs that are all around now. All the music and people."
