River is perched on a barstool, happily sipping... something. It's very pink. And fizzy, and equipped with a curly straw and a small plastic monkey.
Even the monkey is pink.
(River's wearing brown -- her long coat -- and shades of yellow. The contrast of colors is something Kaylee and Wash would both approve of.)

Lucy is not given to smelling others' drinks, it must be said, but she comes over and offers a hand after a moment, and likely she can catch the scent from that, if only a little. "Lucy Pevensie. I'm sorry, I've just never seen a drink quite so pink." Red, certainly, but not pink.

"Oh--no, no thank you," dropping her hand after a moment. "It's yours, after all."

This is a significant thing, it seems.

And the color.
It must be said that Lucy is feeling more than a little like she's talking with a Duffer, but without the urge to sew someone's mouth shut.
This is a very important difference.

Stitches in uninjured human flesh are bad, kids. Just ask Miranda.
River grins at her. "That too."

She has to laugh again, a bit bewildered, before asking, "Might I join you?"
If nothing else, this conversation's been interesting.

This seems to be a yes.

Beat.
Loooong beat.
River visibly remembers the second customary part of that. "River."

She sips her drink cheerfully. Uuuup the curly straw it goes.

Woe is her.
But she doesn't seem to realize how deprived she is, and is content to sip her tea and watch River, a little thoughtfully, and still at a bit of a loss.
Not upset. But not understanding.

So she is focusing on her drink. It's fruity! And fizzy! And liquid! Truly the world is a fascinating place.

Lucy has noticed this.
The monkey is cute, she feels.
"Where are you from, River?" she asks after several moments pass.

That either means she's from a future where people travel in space, or she's a star, and to be honest, Lu isn't at all sure which River might be.
"--Far more exciting than Finchley," is what she says, after a moment, still looking at the window.
