Richard's at the bar with a pint of lager and a distinct lack of children. He's leaning back on the barstool and toying with a red ring on his thumb.

He gets one. Then another. And perhaps a third.

"I thought you did. So here I am."

Chris smiles. "You are very blessed indeed, my dear."

"Moreso than I ever thought I would be. I'm damned lucky to even be alive let alone so blessed."

Chris strokes his face and kisses his forehead. "No danger," he murmurs. "None to you anymore."

He smiles and rests against Chris' shoulder.

"Thanks, love. Means a lot to me.

He grins a bit.

"But careful before I start feeling invincible."

Laughter now, and he hugs Richard tight. "I will watch over you to prevent your getting a big head, then, as well."

He wraps his arms about Chris' waist.

"It's a good thing I don't wear hats often."

He lifts his chin up for another kiss.

"What have you been up to lately?"

"Just the usual. Dancing, watching over the stars, keeping my sword sharp."

"What d'you need a sword for?"

"Demon-slaying." He plays with Richard's earlobe. "It's why I was called into being."

He shivers and tips his head to the side to give better access.

"Wot, not to steal butter, give milkmaids a run, and dance the night away?"

"They give my existence pleasure, not purpose." He slides his fingers into Richard's hair.

He nuzzles into Chris' hand, and then tugs him over to the couches.

"Are there that many demons about?"

"They are legion," Chris murmurs and flops--elegantly--down onto a couch. "And they do not like to talk, on the whole."

"Sounds quite dull, really. But, I suppose it's better than wasting your time with megalomaniac monologues."

He flops down next to him and curls up against him.

Chris strokes his back, slowly, with his fingertips up and his palm down. "That's supervillains. A whole other sort of plague."

He hums again and arches to his touch, flopping across Chris' lap.

"And I'm glad that neither are present now."

"Mm . . . so am I. They're so distracting."

He turns on his back and reaches up to stroke Chris' hair.

"The boys have missed you. Could I bring them to visit soon?"

"Of course. Here or to the palace? Or perhaps New York sometime--it's lovely in the spring."

He nods.

"I'll bring them soon. Are you free this weekend?"
