Lounging in the bar is a bored-looking raptor-well, she looks as bored as she can. She's rather lacking in the facial expressions department. Raptor Red eyes the rest of the bar, occasionally yawning. With a full belly and a comfortable place to rest, she's fine with staying where she is for the moment, but that doesn't mean she isn't keeping an eye out for anything else of interest.

Mary is mostly standing still and staring, at the moment; which likely does not make her appear terribly interesting.
But. Dinosaur.

She yawns again, turning her head to peer back at Mary intently.

Mary is now caught between a dinosaur-related glee! and the dawning realization that this dinosaur has rather sharp teeth.
Nevertheless: "Hello," she says; and offers a quick, tentative smile.

Red gets to her feet, stretching for a moment, and then begins to walk towards Mary, sniffing noisly. Maybe the human chick has food. Just because her stomach's fairly full doesn't mean that she's not opportunistic.

She is not afraid.
She takes a breath, and then, slowly, extends her left hand for the creature to sniff.
(Possibly somewhere is the thought that if, against her expectations, it does end up biting her fingers off, she can spare them better from the left hand than the right.)

She peers down at Mary, tilting her head to the side. It's rare for her to see a human-besides Ray-who seems fairly calm around her.

"You are not going to hurt me," she says, slowly; and the smile creeps back onto her face.
"And - you are a real dinosaur, aren't you - I do not know if you can understand me. Can you?"

"Many creatures around here can - and many back home, too. I think it must be very clever of them, for I certainly could not understand Robin - or Dragon or Rabbit or anything."
no subject
But she's curious as to what those things are now, and so she siwngs her head around, sniffing again. Maybe she can smell them out.

It's hard sometimes, not understanding Dinosaur.

"You are looking for something?" she hazards.

However, after a moment of pondering -
"I shall be right back," she promises, and heads over to the bar, returning proudly with a sheet of paper and a stick of charcoal.
no subject
Nope, same paper smell.
no subject
"I do not know if you can hold it," she says, with a small frown, "but perhaps you could put one of your claws in it?"

Red then pulls her hand back, peering at it. Now what?
no subject
A black line appears, shortly followed by two dots.
The finished product resembles this face -

Mary is not really a smiley-face sort of child.
"You see," she explains, to the dinosaur. "You can make pictures with it."

She sticks out at a claw and experimentally pokes at the paper. The claw, however, winds up punching through the paper-they're made for killing, not art or fine motor skills.

She is waiting patiently for the moment when they will form a pattern and Everything Comes Clear.

Yeah.
"- is that a frog?" Mary asks, helpfully.

It does not, alas, look terribly froglike.

"I suppose," she says, in highly disappointed tones, "it is not a frog that you are looking for, then."

The raptor yawns, casting a glance back towards the fire, before snorting quietly.
