Lounging in the bar is a bored-looking raptor-well, she looks as bored as she can. She's rather lacking in the facial expressions department. Raptor Red eyes the rest of the bar, occasionally yawning. With a full belly and a comfortable place to rest, she's fine with staying where she is for the moment, but that doesn't mean she isn't keeping an eye out for anything else of interest.

Mary puts the paper down on a table, and demonstrates, by scraping with the charcoal.

A black line appears, shortly followed by two dots.

The finished product resembles this face -

Mary is not really a smiley-face sort of child.

"You see," she explains, to the dinosaur. "You can make pictures with it."

Red thinks over this for a moment, then snhrrts a bit to herself. She remembers the pictures Ray and Alan showed her-so this is how you make them.

She sticks out at a claw and experimentally pokes at the paper. The claw, however, winds up punching through the paper-they're made for killing, not art or fine motor skills.

"Punching holes in a pattern would work too," Mary agrees.

Red blinks and inspects the paper, then tries punching a few more holes. She's not aiming to create anything just yet; she's just enjoying the novelty of playing with paper.

Mary is watching the punched holes very seriously.

She is waiting patiently for the moment when they will form a pattern and Everything Comes Clear.

Red is still interested in just punching things out. While she's used to thinking of things in terms of pictures, trying to find a way to transfer those to something that looks recognizable on paper is rather difficult. The size of her claws probably doesn't help.

. . . you know how if you stare at a scribble long enough, imaginary patterns begin to emerge?

Yeah.

"- is that a frog?" Mary asks, helpfully.

"Phhr?" She blinks and tilts her head to the side, attempting to see something besides holes. Mary is then given as perplexed a look as a raptor can give. Abstract art, or anything close to it, is a little beyond your average dinosaur.

Using the charcoal, Mary rapidly sketches her idea of a frog around the dots.

It does not, alas, look terribly froglike.

The picture is just given a blank look, and Mary gets one as well. "Phhr?" Idly, she paws at the picture, succeeding in doing nothing but getting more charcoal on her claws.

Mary heaves a sigh.

"I suppose," she says, in highly disappointed tones, "it is not a frog that you are looking for, then."

She shakes her head-another human tendency she's picked up. Red isn't very interested in frogs. There's not much meat on them.

"Is it another kind of creature?" Mary asks, determined to get the most out of this line of questioning, at least.

"Khht." There's a head bob, and she glances around again, sniffing once more. Maybe this time she'll find a scent that sticks out. But without knowing what dragons or robins look like, she's still somewhat stuck.

A little warily: "Are you looking for it to eat?"

She shakes her head. Red has learned from experience that if it isn't already dead, new prey should be observed for awhile first. And her belly is full for the moment, anyway.

The raptor yawns, casting a glance back towards the fire, before snorting quietly.
