She doesn't look innocent when she sleeps. Far from in fact, she's curled far more akin to a hound than a human, cheek cradled on her towel. Her wet hair is spread in the grass like blood, her scarred back turned towards a small fire that leaps and jumps tiredly in the growing night.

There's a plate with lunch on it as well, a sandwich with a few bites taken, a bit of fruit...it seems that the call to sleep was too great after her swim though...so, Rachel is asleep by the lake, there's room enough at the fire for more though.

He snatches his hand back quickly, eyes wide and apologetic.

"It's ok...just me..."

He slowly brings his hands forward so she can see them, giving a soft whine.

She eyes him a moment, then blinked slowly, flame fading from her eyes "Oh..." she answered softly, not exactly sure what she had been expecting.

"Sorry..."

Then she cuddled close once more in apology.

"Don't be," he murmurs, pulling her back in.
"You ok? You looked like you were having a bad dream."

He keeps his hands off her back this time, running them lightly through her hair instead.

"I always do" she shrugged, taking a deep breath and slowly relaxing once more. After a few more minutes of listening to Jason breath she smiles softly "Hey, what's up with you?"

He smiles softly.

"Not much. Got a little antsy inside so I came out. Glad I did, I haven't seen you in awhile."

He lightly twists a lock of her hair around his fingers.
"I'm sorry about your nightmares. Anything I can do to help?"

"Why antsy?" she asked curiously, tucking her chin comfortably on his shoulder.

"No, not really" sleeping with other people tends to help, but she can't ask such of anyone.

She can ask him anytime. They're Pack.

"Just antsy. I'm trying to take it slow with that girl we were talking about and...it's been awhile."

Years by his count.

She just can't justify asking anyone, pack or no...it seems selfish.

...and it's dangerous.

She hissed in sympathy, slipping an arm over his waist and hugging him "I'm sorry...geez, really fallen huh?" she can maybe help with the problem though, telepathic dream weaving ahead....

He shrugs lightly against her, nuzzling her temple.

"I don't know about that...I mean, I haven't even kissed the girl, how far gone could I be?"

Dreams are good, but the touch of anyone is comforting.

"Far enough gone that you're not even contemplating any other women at all, for the forseeable future" she pointed out.

She can offer the comfort of touch, after all, he gives it to her, and still give him sweet dreams...help cut down his tensions a bit.

"Well, so many of the women are taken already, and the other ones just laugh off my advances."

He bumps her forehead with his, chuckling softly.

"Ah, but think about it, how serious have any of your other attempts been since youmet her hmmm?" she teased back, eyes sparkling.

Rachel matchmaking? Never. Rachel not being a Jason-in-denial? Of course.

He cocked an eyebrow.

"Well, I gues I'm just spoiled back home. I don't have to try there. But I guess you're right. Does that mean I should put the moves on you?"

He might be serious.

"You don't want to do that Jason" she admitted easily, if a bit sadly, serious or no, it's true.

"And I'm certainly not on par with her" she teased gently. "So we'll keep at least my name off the lists of "to be explained after she really figures out what I do for a living"..."

He cups her cheek and kisses her very gently on the forehead.

"Don't sell yourself short, Rach."

He resumes the teasing tone. "And I told her what I do..."

"I don't, but I know what I'm not" dating material being one of the things...she's grinning though.

"But you worry that she doesn't truly understand"

His grin brightens.

"Yeah, but I'm hoping to get her hooked enough on me that all that won't matter."

And that got a laugh, short, bright and ringing. "And you think you're not hooked?"

He makes a face, but his eyes are bright.

"Shush, you. I'm trying to behave here."

He sighs against her, enjoying that slightly smokey scent of her from the fire.

"You still going to dance with me at the wedding? I asked her out like you told me to..."

"And you're behaving rather well, so why bother being quiet?" she chuckled easily.

"Yeah, I said I would, I warn you about my lack of ability though." she fully intends to give each of her friends a dance then dissapear all told.

He gives her a squeeze, laughing slightly.

"Because the more you make me think about her, the more I want to go break down her door."

He rests his head against her, savouring the sensation of having someone there.
"You dance beautifully. And if you're worried about steps, just let me lead. You're graceful enough to follow along."

"Well, I won't let you do that" she chuckled, tightening her arms slightly for emphasis.

Then she sobered slightly "Are you sure you'll be happy with her? She can't act like girls from your world, you know that...you really want her though..." but is it a passing obsession? She doesn't want Jaso to work so hard for someone and not be happy...

"Eh, I don't dance with people" she chuckled. She dances alone, always has...not as sad as it seems.

He sobers as well.

"I don't know. I've taken the time to get to know her, or at least tried to, and I know that she isn't going to be...what I'm used to."

He rolls in her embrace, looking up at the sky. "What I do know is that I care about her, and I want her to be happy. If that means I have to tone it down...I can only give it a shot, right?"

She nodded, cradling her head on his chest and tapping her fingertips idly along his ribs. "Then yeah, you've fallen hard. When you want her to be happy instead of yourself, and you're going to try without even knowing you'll succeed? Damn, you're growing up" she sighed.

He smiles, eyes closed, still facing the sky.

"Yeah, scary huh? Just don't go spreading that around. Reputation and..." he fades off, mumbling incoherently.
