Who thought it would be a good idea to give the pokémon hedge clippers? Apparently it's time for adventures in the topiary arts. At least Bulbasaur is practicing on a shrub outside the immediate confines of the garden-proper. It's actually starting to look something like a six-tailed fox. That might even be intentional.

Yep, sugary pink goodness. The pokémon takes a gulp as well, then stifles a small burb. "Saurbulba," it says, a bit sheepishly.

The creature makes short work of its fruit salad and bundles the plate back into the picnic basket, to be returned to Bar later. "Saur, saurbulba?" it asks its young pupil, arranging the terra cotta pots in a neat line.

Harold puts his plate and left over food into the basket as well and nods. "Bulbasaur bulba bulba saur bulba," paying close attention to what the pokemon is doing.

"Saur bulba saur," it says, opening the bag of potting soil and using the small trowel to place a generous scoop of the moist dirt into one of the pots. The pokémon offers the boy the trowel, and gestures at the second pot. "Bulba, saur?"

"Saur."

He takes the trowel and veeeery carefully copies Bulbasaur's actions. And he doesn't even spill too much! Yay for Harold!

Yay indeed! Bulbasaur is quite pleased with its young apprentice. The creature selects one of the bundles of plants and spreads the roots carefully, and gently lowers the plant into the pot. Borrowing back the trowel, it scoops more soil in around the roots and gently presses it into place, anchoring the flowers and fern in their new container.

"Saur bulba saursaur, saur?"

Harold's having a bit more trouble with this one.
Oookay. So you put the roots here and then do the spreading thing like this and then get the...soil and...

He's getting dirt all over himself.

Hee. That's part of the fun, though. And while the soil's slightly moist and crumbly, it's not exactly muddy. ~~Yet.~~ Most of that should brush off.

Bulbasaur nods approvingly. Harold is doing very well for a first try. Just a little more dirt in the pot, and he can get the plants firmly settled. The pokémon reaches out a helping vine to steady the flowers and fern so Harold can use both hands.

This is very helpful. Harold adds more dirt and steadies the flowers and fern as best he can.

"Saur bulba, bulba bulba sasaur?"

"Saur bulba, saur saur!" Bulbasaur beams, and picks up the watering can. "Saur bulba," it instructs, sprinkling dirt close to where the stems emerge, "Saursaur." It passes the watering can over to Harold. The soil is just visibly damp, not soaked.

Harold takes the can and repeats Bulbasaur's actions..The soil might be a little too dry though in his attempt to not overwater it. "Bulba saur bulbabulba?"

Bulbasaur nods encouragingly, and says "Saaauursaurbulba," miming tipping the watering can just a little further.

Harold waters it a bit more, this time with better results.

"Saur?"

"Saur!" That's perfect. The creature smiles, and moves over to the last empty pot. "Saur bulba?" It offers Harold the trowel. Practice makes perfect, after all!

Harold nods and takes the trowel and begins to place a little bit of soil into the pot and then places the fern in carefully, minding the roots.
And then he puts more soil around the edge.

"SaurSaur bulba, saur?"

"Bulbabulbasaur saur, bulba." Yes, that's right. Bulbasaur smiles. Harold is a natural!

"Bulbasaur saur bulba sasaur bulba bulba." And now for the watering can...

He waters it..a bit damper than the other. Oops.
"Saur bulba bulba SAUR!"

"Saur bulba, saur bulba," the pokémon hastens to reassure the boy. As long as the soil doesn't get downright muddy, and it doesn't happen every time, things are fine. The potted plants look lovely.

Bulbasaur carefully places the pots back in the picnic basket, making them easier to carry, and packs the tools in with them. "Bulbasaursaur, saur?"

Harold visibly calms down with Bulbasaur's reasurrances.

"Sasaur."

Hefting the basket with the flowers in it, the creature eyes Harold speculatively. It may be a little heavy for a toddler to carry all by himself. And Bulbasaur's not sure where Harold's staying. "Saur bulbasaur saur, bulba?"

"Bulbasaur saur bulba, saursaur bulbabulba saur. Sasaur bulba, saur." He's staying with Snow in the House of Arch and Snowball can help with the basket. He points to the large white dog laying nearby. "Saur bulba saur!" He acts like he's all strong. "Bulba!"

The pokémon smiles, and sets the basket down next to Snowball. "Saur bulba, saursaur."

It checks the position of the sun in the sky. "Saur, saur?"

Harold blinks.

"Sasaur bulba? Saur bulbabulba saur bulba."

Well, they could go ahead and take the flowers back to Harold's home, or go swimming in the shallows of the lake (Bulbasaur has not encountered Shark or Squid, and nobody's warned it), or maybe go for a walk in the woods...

"Bulbasaur bulba, saursaur bulba bulbasaur saur. Saur bulbasaur saur, saur?"

Harold hesitates. Snow will probably worry..and she doesn't like for him to play in the lake, although she never explained why.
"Saur bulba bulba saur saurbulba. Bulba, saur sasaur bulba. Bulba SAUR saur bulba, saur."

Okay, so swimming is out. Bulbasaur extends its front legs and leans back on its haunches, stretching its back. Forest, then? It yawns. Or maybe nap?

"Saur saur bulbasaur, saur bulba?"
