There is a Jedi Master outside.

Oh, yes, he is going over lightsaber katas. If anything, his skill keeps on improving.

In the semi-dark of a starry night, the display of flashing and dancing lights is quite impressive.

Dooku raises his eyebrows to this. There is always more, it seems.

"Do go on."

"Anakin's mother is killed by Riders, in Tattooine. That must be stopped from happening. Anakin is not able to deal with it, he did not learn to control his emotions, no matter how much we tried to teach him. Before the Battle of Geonosis, he becomes involved with Queen Amidala of Naboo. They should be separated before that happens."

Dooku blinks.

"I thought they were already separated by his joining the Jedi Order?"

Pause.

"And I can make sure that his mother is kept very safe if I can access some of the funds kept in my hereditary trusts."

Another pause.

"I could buy Tatooine without making a large dent in the account, for that matter."

"Move her away from the planet, and hide her."

Mace shakes head. "Anakin kept a romance with her for years. He learned fast to hide his emotions near the council."

Dooku nods.

"Consider that done. Now, how to deal with Amidala is another matter entirely, since I do not know for the life of me what could defuse a romance that was kept for as long as Anakin would had to have kept his alive."

"We can join Anakin and his mother, and give him an assignment somewhere. While this, we must move Padmé to head of the Senate."

Dooku takes a deep breath.

"Amidala as Chancellor? Are you sure of this? And...how quickly does this need to be accomplished?"

Well, that did help deal with the who-to-dump-Palpatine-for question, but...

"She seems far too young to remove Palpatine in favor of just yet."

"We do not need to -remove- Palpatine just yet... but to force his hand, make him hurry, cut his resources and the time he needs. He is preparing an army of clones in Kamino, to use later, when the Trade Federation droids cease to be useful."

Dooku sighs.

"I think directing some attention onto that project might be of use as well...the Senate will not appreciate unauthorized expenditures, and the project could probably be terminated without much difficulty at the present."

he nods, and offers Dooku a datapad. "I compiled everything I know about the facts following the discovery of Anakin at Tattooine by Qui-gon. Use the information well, Master Dooku."

Dooku nods, gratefully accepting the datapad.

"I shall make a backup of this for safekeeping here in the Bar before I return to my time."

There is a brief pause.

"I have to ask, do you forsee all of this being potentially accomplished within the confines of the Order? Considering the adversity within it to having posessions, I do not think that activities involving assisting politicians in their careers and slave-related transactions would go over particularly well with the Council, even with the proper use of this data."

Translation: Yoda will have a nerf.

"They have full ability to know the consequences you speak off are true. The council will have to accept reality, and accept that we have grown complacent. After the crisis is avoided, it is time to change, and move away from politics."

Translation: Yoda can sh*t a rainbow brick for all I care, we have a real chance of eliminating the Sith once and for all.

Dooku nods.

"Very well, then. What do we consider the 'crisis' to be, though, if I may ask?"

Palpatine in office, Palpatine able to cause trouble, Palpatine with a pulse, etc.?

"Palpatine." He sighs. "It is a harsh decision to make. We have to expose him, as a sith. Then, eliminate him."

Dooku's turn to sigh.

"I understand, but I believe that the Order will take this one hard in the public eye...we are already not in the best light due to Galidraan, and I suspect that Palpatine may be more difficult to publicly expose than either of us would desire."

"As Jedi, we must do what is right, Master Dooku. The Council might not like it, but we must swallow the bitter pill, and stop Palpatine. He is trying to cause a galactic war so he can take control of the Republic."

Dooku nods.

"That is understood."

Pause.

"Is there anything that you know which might incriminate him as more than a politician on a power trip?"

"Everything I know, is registered on the datapad. Perhaps we can intercept his communications with the Trade Federation?"

Dooku nods, and starts looking through the datapad quickly.

"That might well do the trick...and what is this here about something involving Master C'boath and Outbound Flight?"

"They must be alerted too... We lost contact, and I feel that Palpatine had the droid ships and perhaps his Chiss allies attack them."

Dooku nods.

"I am concerned about one thing. Even if Palpatine can be put into an...unpleasant position, I am convinced that we need to have him out of office before the close of his second term. According to your files, and in conjunction with what Master Kenobi told me, that is when things start to get...unstable."

"Very much. That is why I asked you to convince the younger me. I feel I can push the Council into action."

Dooku nods.

"Very well, then."

Pause.

"One final question, before I retire to review this information further and plan a course of action: Even if we advance the career of Padme Amidala, and if we consider that to be a given course of action, how do we keep Skywalker from her?"

"Their involvement was a mistake I made. I sent Skywalker as her guardian, to Naboo. By preventing that, and placing Anakin with his mother somewhere else, we can avoid him and Padmé getting close."

Dooku pauses momentarily.

"Placing him there temporarily or permanently? He has already been assigned to Master Kenobi as a Padawan, and he would make for a most dangerous apprentice to Palpatine if we were to clearly send him out of the Order."
