milliways_bar | (no subject)

It wasn't quite summer yet in New York, but it was close enough. The weather had been clear and hot, but thankfully hadn't quite reached the point where it was oppressive. That said, a change for the cooler wasn't unwelcome, and when the front door opened to reveal the t-shirt-clad form of April O'Neil, the wry quirk to her lips suggested she was pleased enough to step over the threshold into the familiar confines of Milliways Bar.

She'd been around, but rarely for more than a few minutes together, generally simply checking in or using the bar as a way station between her New York and late-1800s London. Today, though, April thought she'd linger awhile, if only to take note of the growing sea of unfamiliar faces, and perhaps see a few familiar ones, as well.

Seating herself at the bar, she ordered coffee -- Large, with lots of sugar and cream, and Bar still knew just how to make it -- and opened the copy of the New York Times that had been tucked under her arm.

"Sounds like definite good things..."

He smiles.

"You definitely deserve good things."

He nods.

"You are a good person."

April had to dip her head a bit, a slight flush warming her cheeks. "Thank you, Bruce," she replied, quite touched by the depth of the sentiment. "I think you're a good person, too."

"You are welcome. And thanks."

He smiles.

She was the first person to truly know him here nd accept him as he was, without qualms. That means a lot. Always will.

"Will... will you come around more now?"

"I might, yeah," April replied, teasing him just a bit. "That is, I'd like to, I think. I miss the place a lot. Miss the people." She gave the bar a pat for emphasis.

He chuckles.

"Well. I am sure I am not rhe only one who has missed you."

He grins.

"HOw long has it been for you?"

"Eh, there might be one or two others around here who'll be glad to see me." April quirked a wry smile. "I guess it's been a couple of months, maybe a little longer."

"I think it has been the same here."

He nods, grinning foolishly. he was very glad to see her.

"Had a few adventures along the way, and actualy spent a year out of the bar too, but I have been back for quite some time."

"Oh, well, time for me in New York is the same as it is, here." Hers was probably the only world that was predictably that way. "Long story that I can't really get into, but yeah. My time is bar time." She smiled.

He nods.

"That is good. Then we can poke you if you are gone too long..."

His grin is almost teasing.

"Hey, if you can get Raph to come home to poke me-" God, that sounded bad, didn't it? "I'll come by everyday as reward." April gave him a quick wink, because there was no way that was happening.

He laughs.

"I will work on it."

He grins.

"Now if I can only figure out which one is Raph..."

"Dark hair, brooding, wears a lot of black," April advised with a dismissive wave of her hand. "You'll never convince him, though, so it's best you don't try, I think."

He chuckles.

"Why not try?"

He shrugs.

"If I fail, I fail. No harm. Might as well try though. You're worth it."

"Ahhh, well. You have to know Raph," April explained, her expression growing sheepish. "Seriously, there could be harm." Vast harm.

"Hmmm. Well, I will take your word for it."

He nods. He shufts topics then.

"The p[erson you met, was it here?"
