Steph's sitting in the rafters. Not, for once, out of any particular desire to Lurk; things are going well, lately. Just out of a vague feeling that if she doesn't spend some time up high in the shadows she'll go crazy.

Besides, she likes the rafters. They're quiet and warm and comfy - well, comfy compared to rooftops, at least - and you can see almost everything going on below.

"Well, yeah. Vastly different."

"I always beat people up in the name of truth and justice, though," Steph points out. "... 'cept when I just don't like them."

"Really? Must be a bit tiring, all that truth and justice stuff."

"Well, it's kinda what we do," Steph says. "I mean, that's the whole point."

"The whole point of what?"

"Being Robin." She tilts her head. "You know, fight the superstitious and cowardly, defend justice, fight crime?"

"Doesn't seem worth it to me."

"It's worth it," Steph asserts, serious now. "It's - y'know, if I saved one person's life - and I did - then it was worth it."

"Huh," Atton frowns slightly. "Can't say I understand that but fair enough."

She's never been really good at explaining the whole hero complex thing.

"It's just ... what we do," she reiterates. "Because, y'know, little old ladies or young moms being mugged can't save themselves, and I can. So ... it's not like there's that much of a choice."

"Yeah. I think I see your point.'

"Really? Good, 'cos I'm totally crap at explaining." She grins at him.

"Yeah. I can tell." He grins.

"Shut up. So what did you do, then? Apart from the Jedi thing. Weren't Jedi s'posed to be fighting for truth and justice too, anyway?" She frowns. "Or am I mixing you up with someone else and you're not a Jedi at all? I forget."

"I'm a Jedi. And a lot of the time I'm a thief. The two conflict a bit," He shrugs. "And I used to be a pilot."

"So really I oughta be knocking you out and taking you in?" Steph enquires, grinning. "Nah, my sister's a thief. How can you be both, though?"

"By not being a good Jedi," He smiles wryly. "I'm more or less the black nerf of the Order."

"Really? How come?"

Steph has learned a little of tact. Just ... y'know, not much.

Atton gives her a Look.
"Thieving, smuggling, conning and mercenary work are sorta frowned upon."

"So why didn't you stop?" SIMPLE SOLUTION, SILLY.

"Because I don't want to. The kriffin' Order isn't going to decide what I do."

"Okay, okay! Geeze, you're touchy." She tilts her head, studying him thoughtfully. "So why don't you stop being a Jedi, then?"

"Because," He makes a vague hand gesture. "It's a rebuilding order, they need all the Jedi they can get, and it's a steadier income and supply of food and shelter than I can get being a thief."

"Okay. That's cool. What about piloting? What did you fly?"

"I flew a fighter in the Mandalorian Wars. Very fast, very good at blowing up Basilisk Droids," He shrugs again. "These days I fly freighters, and that's about it."
