The door opens and a familiar face comes in... but for the time being, it's not Michael Guerin in the driving seat.

By mutual consent between him and Michael, Rath of Antar has just come to Milliways as more than just a passenger.

"No," Faith says, cheerfully. "I have whiskey in it."

"Ah. Yes, that would explain it."

"I do drink it stronger than most people, though. And I don't put Tabasco in it."

"We don't put tabasco in everything, whatever impression Michael may have given you", he says, amused. "It goes well with sweet things."

"I know. I've seen Max eat it on ice cream." Faith shakes her head slightly. "I'm trying to work up the nerve to try it, but so far it hasn't happened yet."

"Even a little of his?" Rath asks, amused.

"I've seen and done some terrifying things in my time, but even I have limits," Faith says, primly.

He laughs.

"Perhaps we should start small. There's a recipe for wasabi chocolate cake Michael is very fond of..."

"....I don't have that much whiskey in my coffee."

"It's really very good. Or so I assume, from what little of the experience makes it to me."

"I prefer my chocolate with more chocolate. And carmael. And peanut butter. And toffee. And whipped cream."

Beat.

"It's a good thing my metabolism's so high."

"...I don't know how you can stand to eat anything so unremittingly sweet."

"....I'm a girl."

And if that's not explanation enough, Rath hasn't learned much from Maria.

Rath has very little direct contact with Maria. She and Michael insist on it, somewhat. He was married himself, though, once.

"...yes, yes, you are. A fair point."

"A human girl, no less. Or, well, sort of." Faith grins, a little apologetically. "I'm weird, I know. Sorry about that."

"I never had contact with human women before Michael was born", he says thoughtfully. "It's something of an education."

"I bet." Faith snorts. "Terrifying, aren't we?"

She knows she is. It's fun.

"His wife is certainly formidable", Rath says with a faint smile. "Not one to be crossed, Lady Mari."

"Very true," Faith agrees. "Same goes for Trillian. And Shelley, when paperwork is involved."

"So I've gathered. Our young page is half intimidated by her, half in love with her. And entirely willing to help her steal paperwork."

"...Sesh? Really? Aww, how cute."

"Oh, yes." He grins. "He seems to believe we don't know about it."

Faith snorts quietly.

"Poor kid."

"Remarkably optimistic, too, to think that any secret can be kept for very long in a palace with Teldaro on the staff..."

Faith winces.

"Well, I guess Tel's at least being a little discreet about it, since I'm just now finding out."
