Wedding Day: (the dream is ended-this is the morning)
The day is very fine. Something--or Someone--has kept the weather calm and clear, and the blue sky arches over the small congregation by the lakeshore like a cathedral ceiling. Caspian and Lucy had decided, when he asked for her hand, that they would marry outside, by the lake and the forest and with only the blue and gold and green of the air and the water and the trees about them.
There are simple white chairs for the wedding guests, adorned with blue ribbons and tiny pink wild roses, but little else is arranged out on the grass, and the only movement comes from the arriving guests. It seems the bride and groom prefer it that way.
And the odd thing is--it's September.
And yet the air smells sweetly of lilies.
[Millitimed to approximately 3pm this afternoon. There are two subthreads: for the arrival of guests and the ceremony itself. Slowtime is a certainty, all weekend long. Have fun!]

Mingling of Guests
Re: Mingling of Guests
Black eyes are bright with interest and curiosity as he watches events unfold.
Re: Mingling of Guests
Amy has never been the sister of the groom before.
She sits, in red and silver, hair bound back in a circlet of gold and amber, hands in her lap, smile wrinkling up her turned up nose.
Re: Mingling of Guests
well, he cleans up nice. But that can't hide the embarrassed, out of place look that insists on sticking to his face.
Re: Mingling of Guests
Is that a lion up there?
Re: Mingling of Guests
Religion and fuckin' talking animals?
Re: Mingling of Guests
(Although there's a little bit of "this is really very odd" there as well, because his father is marrying Lucy the Valiant, wtf.)
Re: Mingling of Guests
Today finds him remarkably non-hungover (or perhaps its not so remarkable; Narnians often consult with Bacchus, after all, so by Tirian's time they likely have more than one secret for dealing with hangovers), and in considerably more formal dress.
He may be blushing faintly as he casts a look in Susan's direction, but otherwise, he's smiling calmly as he waits for the ceremony to begin.
Re: Mingling of Guests
Except perhaps for one.
Re: Mingling of Guests
Not today.
She takes a seat very near the front, straightening her dark green skirts about her legs and looking over her shoulder every few minutes with a smile, hoping for a glance of Adam, excited to see Lucy and Caspian wed.
Her smile isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
Re: Mingling of Guests
She's still carrying herself as a dignitary, though. A broadly smiling one with eyes that sparkle with joy for the couple, but a dignitary nonetheless.
Re: Mingling of Guests
There was a moment of "Hi Cooper! I haven't seen you in ages, but now that i have you're my date to Lucy's wedding. Good thing you generally wear a suit. It's right out back, and don't worry. I'll sign your name to the card" before she linked her arm through his and headed towards the lake.
Lilly and Cooper have arrived.
Re: Mingling of Guests
"I seem to be developing a habit of crashing weddings."
Re: Mingling of Guests
She pats his arm reassuringly.
"You're good either way at this one, though. After all, you're my date."

He's trying to catch sight of the bride or groom, and giving quick cordial smiles to everyone who catches his eye, and (not quite consciously) trying to avoid letting anyone catch his eye for very long. He spends some time studying the sky; it's a lovely, clear day. A perfect day.
And the decorations are perfect -- the rosebuds tied to the chairs make his fingers itch for a sketchpad. And -- oh.
Oh.
Aslan is so much bigger than he remembers.
Re: Mingling of Guests
"It is damn' good to see you again, old man. I'm sorry it's been so ghastly long, I've rather been an ass about things." Peter's overall mood today can be described as ebullient, but there's a shift into sincere sobriety with the apology. "I've really no excuse for falling out of touch. How have you been, Ed?"
Re: Mingling of Guests
Edmund grins at his brother.
"Oh, fine. A bit out of touch myself, I'm afraid." And he doesn't want to talk any more about that, so he turns a little to survey the crowd and the green lawn, and finds that the smile on his face doesn't take quite so much attention to maintain now. "What a marvelous day it is."
He doesn't only mean the weather.

He's irritated by the relief on her face; he's irritated more by the knowledge that maybe she has justification for relief, even if he doesn't actually acknowledge that fact. But it's Lucy and Caspian's wedding, and there's a crowd around them, and even if he's not been much of a king lately there are things one never forgets, and so his smile doesn't falter.
The Ceremony
Re: The Ceremony
And the joy which illuminates his face glows even more brightly than the gold in his hair or the sun glancing off the water nearby.
Re: The Ceremony
After Susan come the twins, each with a ring on a pillow on their backs, each with a garland looped several times around their necks. They look up at The Him when they stop at his feet.
MAMA SAYS WE CANNOT SET YOU ON FIRE NOW.
DO NOT GET USED TO IT.
And then...
And then it's Lucy's turn, and her grip is rather tight on Adam as she takes a breath and looks over at him. "Ready?"
