Some days are better than others, and some are far, far worse. Wells knew from the moment he woke up this morning that today was going to be one of the bad ones. That's why he slipped away from Annie while she still slept, and why he came here. Oh, sure, he could pummel the heavy bag in his basement, he got one of those a while ago just in case- but he'd be stuck indoors with the knowledge that a city of fourteen million was waiting overhead somewhere. Better to head to Milliways. The bag's outside, for one thing, and the people are a whole lot fewer. He can take company, especially now that he's been working on the bag a good half hour or more. It's just that it goes down far, far better in small doses today.

Preston grins, "-That's something I'd like to see."

A pause, "-I mean, It's a peak physical accomplishment."

Is there jealousy there? just a bit.

"Someday," Wells says. "Assuming, first, that I get that good again, and second, that you never, ever say 'pre-Librian' like those of us who weren't lucky enough to be born after your dictatorship got put into play were all some sort of sub-human. Honestly, Preston, d'you listen to yourself talk?"

Preston frowns, "-It's-it's a force of habit."

Squirm, swallow, squirm. For the record, the guy looks absolutely sheepish, "-It's like washing phrases out of my vocabulary. Saying Father forbids it is getting a tad ridiculous."

Religion nonwithstanding. Preston now considers the phrase as some weird reference to his own father. A man he barely remembers.

Wells nods once, shortly. It's a start.

"I'd offer to give you a few alternatives, but there's a rhythm and flow to using curse words properly," he notes. "You're a bit old to learn."

"Robbie's picked up some...ah...interesting Xylxian terminology." Which the mun would get at if she could find the link to that online Mandarin dictionary, "....Cursing is detrimental to language."

"As you like." Wells shrugs. "I'm not gonna get into an argument with you over it, anyway. It isn't worth it."

Preston may or may not be smiling.

You never can tell with the half smirk, "...Right."

"How's Annie and your grandchild?"

Wells' eyes narrow a moment, but he's going to let the half-smirk slide too. Again, not worth it.

God, and it's only new moon.

"Both all right," he says, absently resting one hand against the heavy bag. "Though the baby's not born yet. Doctors're sayin' that's going to happen sometime in the next seven to ten days. More likely seven."

Preston is a snarky bastard isn't he?

Although his face softens, "...That's good. Although I can't imagine your daughter'd be comfortable. Excited?"

"Pretty much the opposite of comfortable, from what she tells me," Wells says. "She's about ready to pop, she says. I think she's excited under that, she just won't let it out."

Preston chuckles, "-Daily Doctor Appointments?"

Pregnancy for Women was a scaary experience in Libria.

"Daily? Not hardly," Wells says. "She's at home, resting mostly. My dad's there to look after her, or Annie when he's got to be elsewhere."

There might be a little bit of an edge to his voice on 'elsewhere', but there might not. He's had a lot of edges in his words today regardless.
