Okay, he's back. Jittery, (though he knows better than to show it,) and watching the bar from a place in the corner (where he can have his back to a wall) and fingers curled tight around his glass.

But he is here.

"White space, because I cannot be that complicated. A soft bed, with full, goosefeather blankets. Furniture that I need, and a bath and rugs. Dressers with glass things on them, a chest with my clothes, and lots of books. A gamaphone and old records to listen and dance to."

"Parker stays there a lot of the time too. He is my... we are together."

“They tell us at Hogwarts that we must always be very careful. I hope you are protected.”

How she can manage to sound stern and dreamy at the same time is anybody’s guess.

“It wouldn’t be very nice,” she agrees solemnly. “But Madame Pomfrey says that if you aren’t careful while having sex you can possibly die.”

She pauses.

“On your head?”

He bites his bottom lip.

"Dead, I mean?"

Said as calmly as if she were talking about the weather.

Looking at his hands.

"Thea did the same thing and I miss her something dreadful."

She smiles, a shade wistfully.

“I was only a little girl, but I still feel quite sad about it sometimes.”

And it takes some adjusting, but he manages to grab her hand.

"Truly."

Bitten-down nails dig in as she squeezes his hand reassuringly.

“We’ll see them both again.”

He shrugs.

"I am a season."

Her voice drops to a conspiratorial whisper.

“Then we will just have to let them come to us.”
