There is a Ranger at a table, observing the show outside the Window.
On the table in front of him is a glass teapot, a steaming kettle, several cups and some little green nodule things.
Company, as always, is appreciated.

The Ranger finds himself pulled out of his contemplation of the dying cosmos by something...familiar. Something he has never sensed in Milliways (and rarely sensed at home, for that matter). His senses sharpen and focus and...
There!
Child! How did you find this place?
The mind voice is laced with flavors of suprise, protectiveness and concern.

As he was on edge, he let out a yelp and looked around, paranoid.
"Who said that?"
Or is the stress making me finally lose it? he thought to himself.
no subject
Calm yourself. You have nothing to fear from me.

Eventually he glanced at the man at the table, and caught him looking at him.
"You...?"
no subject
He looks puzzled. "When were you born, child?" he asks aloud since the boy takes mind-speech so poorly. "You are certainly too young for the second youngest, and the eldest of the youngest cannot be more than ten years old."
Way to confuse the kid, Anla'shok.

Then he thought up another possibility: "Or are you just on drugs?"

He steps forward, looking hard at Danny. So familiar and yet...
His eyes widen. "You're not one of our children," he murmurs.
Impossible!

"My apologies, then. At first glance, you look exactly like one of the children from my time."
He tilts his head to the side. "If I may be so bold...what year do you come from?"
no subject
He squirmed uncomfortably.
Was there something outwardly weird about him now? That would make it harder to hide his secret?
no subject
"To the outer eyes, yes," the Ranger allows. "But then, to the outer eyes, I am not particularly remarkable myself."
He smiles reassuringly. "Would you care to join me for tea? I must admit my curiosity, but I will attempt to contain it, if you prefer."
no subject
Which meant he had inner eyes?
Danny realized that this guy might have had some way of picking up on things about people like his ghost sense and he relaxed slightly and sat down.
"Okay, I guess," he sat down, now a little curious himself.

"It has been a while, Kenaz. Would you join me for tea?"
He turns and quirks an eyebrow at him. "I assure you Cai is not here to eat your robes. Although I think she is almost grown out of that now."
no subject
"Good. Unlike some wizards, I like to keep my robes in good shape."
He then got up, and headed over. Sat down so he was now lounging in a chair by the Ranger.
no subject
"Perhaps more durable robes should be designed then," he suggests impishly as he pours steaming water into the pot. Slowly, the "bud" begins to open.

Draco then peered at the flowering nodule with interest. "Interesting herb." He wondered about its potential as a potion ingredient.
no subject
"Herbs, technically," the Ranger says. "White tea sewn together with flowers. As pleasing to the eye as it is to the palate."
no subject
"...Impressive." He was an admirer of beautiful things.
no subject
He pours into two, handleless cups.
"So, Kenaz, how have things been passing since our last meeting?"
no subject
"Well, research. Spending my time elsewhere of late. Met someone." Was that hints of a smile? A *real* one? Not a smirk? Shockers.
no subject
There is a twinkle in the Ranger's eye as he sips his tea.
"That is good. What particular area of research is this? I presume magic, but I am also sure that there are as many areas of magic as there are of engineering, medicine, chemistry or even diplomacy."
The question of that "someone" will be addressed soon, gentle readers.
no subject
Well, maybe, if it can be coaxed out of the teen. He's still not sure what it is. Even though he's got a date. On Halloween no less.
no subject
"
Ahhh, the need for coaxing makes it all the more fun.
