Enter a politician

Peter wasn't the only Petrelli to be a bit distracted. Nathan left his brother with their mom while he started making phone calls on his way back to his campaign office. He was still talking on his cellphone as he walked through the door.

"Look, get me Tom on the phone, will ya? ...Hello? Hello?" He stared at his cellphone. Damn, he shouldn't have lost the signal. He then glanced up, only instead of the familiar hustle and bustle of a frantic campaign office going into the last stretch....It was a bar? What the hell?

Nathan took a few steps further in, not realizing the door closing smoothly behind him. Must have gotten turned around or something.

(ooc: much love folks, but gotta say slowtime for work and class. Will be back to tag slowtimes after 4:30pEST. Never mind on the work! Yay! Here till 3pmEST. BACK! Feel free to send more pups to meet my newest one.)

Kirk takes a breathe. He can tell that this man hasn't listened to a thing. Like some cadets, perhaps. So maybe he needs to try treating the man like a cadet. A raw one.

So Kirk gets calmer.

"Doors disappear here. The techonology that runs this place can do that, just as it grabbed you and me and everyone else here from a variety of times and places. I know that does sond impossible - especially if you're from a lower technology world or era - but it's true. And it's no joke."

He's determined, that's for sure. Kirk could almsot like the man if he'd calm down.

"Alien abductions?" That's a term that fell out of use a long time ago.

[identity profile] works-in-space.livejournal.com 2006-11-30 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
"Ah. UFO reports from the 20th century. I can assure you, the 'little green men' were not visiting Earth and abducting any humans. They dind't arrive on Earth - at least on my Earth - till later, and they aren't little. Though they are a bit green." Which makes Kirk smirk.

"You haven't said your name yet."

Kirk isn't sure he can say the same, but he does return the handshake. "Maybe I can tell you more about the place? As gilded cages go, it's not that bad."

"I doubt anyone back home will believe you." Certainly, from the way Nathan acts and dresses, he's from a time before Starfleet stretched the limits of knowledge.

"First thing is that this place is as much as bar as anything else. Anything you want to eat here, or drink, they have. The first drink's free, but after that you need to run up a tab."

[identity profile] works-in-space.livejournal.com 2006-12-01 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
"Mister Petrelli, if your connections can do something about our mutual situations, I would like meet them." Kirk has no doubt that they cannot.

"Maybe you should get a drink."

[identity profile] works-in-space.livejournal.com 2006-12-01 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
"Suit yourself." Kirk rarely advocates drinking as a way of coping, but this guy is so tense that a drink should do him good.

"The next thing you should know is that they have a strict No Violence policy here. And ther are even gaurds here to enforce it."

[identity profile] works-in-space.livejournal.com 2006-12-01 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm not sure about that. You seem to be trying to take our your anger on the place. You're lucky they haven't arrested you." Kirk knows it doesn't work that way (he thinks). But maybe Nathan will pay a little attention?

"Besides, if you really want to beat something up, there's a punching bag out by the lake."

[identity profile] works-in-space.livejournal.com 2006-12-01 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
"The same way there can be a Bar at the end of timespace. Whatever made this place is pretty advanced. Otherwise, we couldn't survive that..." He points at a certian window on the dying unvierse. It's time Nathan saw the observation window. Though Kirk would bet it won't impress him.

"you know, I appreciate someone who doesn't just accept what he says withotu a little investigation. It's a sound appraoch to exploration and to life. But you're taking this a bit too far.

"All of this is real. Not something out of a holovid. And the door isn't going to come back just because you want it to." This guy wouldn't last ten minutes on a starship.

[identity profile] works-in-space.livejournal.com 2006-12-01 02:35 pm (UTC)(link)
"This is real, mister. I can't help it if you don't want to accept it." For a moment, Kirk recalls that Uhura told him about that self-absorbed transporter chief, and how she told him that what was going on was "fantasy." He is so tempted to play it that way, but it wouldn't help.

"What sort of campaign? Political, I assume?" Can't be military.

"Congress? I've never met anyone running for that. Which house, Lords or Commons?" As a student of history, Kirk knows better. But he is entitled to have just a little fun, he thinks.
