The sun's gone down. The food's been replenished.

So has the booze.

A bonfire's been set up, and is burning.

There are people relaxing , here and there, enjoying the warmth of the fire.

There are others, outside the ring of light, enjoying the darkness.

Don't go inside yet.

The night is young.

Knox roams around a bit. It's been some day. In fact, he thinks, it's like being in beer ad. Warm sun giving way to a warm night, green grass, a beach, lots of food, lots of beer, and lots of very attracitve women, many of whom aren't weren't much at all.

Later, of course, he figures he'll meet back up with Rapunzel, but for now, he just wants to take it in and see who else is here. And he hasn't seen a bonfire...well, ever. The only fires they have in Gotham are arsons.

There's a Slayer with a glass of something that smells vaguely like the strongest alcohol you've ever tasted in her hand.

Bonfire's more my speed. Not that I mind the sun - especially after lots of cold Chicago winter - but I like the night. I work better then. Or I'm just more used to the dark.

Either way - bonfire - heat - darkness - good.

Night, now it is more interesting. Ravin lays on her beach towel, just past the edge of the firelight, but still very visible thanks to her pale skin.

She is counting stars. Or seems to.

"Hello!" Lenny practically sneaks up on her. "Lenny Inchpot, ser- Oh dang, sorry. I'll come back later?"

Elizabeth's been in the sun all day, so the night is a nice change. She's gotten a small coverup to go over her swimsuit, and sheer as it may be, it's warm enough.

She's seated on the edge of the fire light, with a drink. Just inside of it that she can be seen, but just enough out of it that she can look out at the forest and not have the light interfere with her night vision.

Mephisto walked towards the lady with a bottle of merlot and two wine glasses in his hands. She took the best seat but then again he would be just as comfortable sitting in the fire.

He sat next to her and glared at her with a slight fire in his eyes (pun intended). "Would you like a glass?"

Bonfires are very nice. And so is that there is a Fire lounging next to it, sprawled out on a red towel, eyes reflecting the flames.

He hasn't seen her in a while, and the day's been pretty good to him, so Ichigo plops down beside her with a lazy greeting.

Sometime after her bartending shift (http://community.livejournal.com/milliways_bar/15834831.html), Buffy makes her way outside again. It's too nice a night to be cooped up inside, and she really needs something to take her mind off of stuff. If that means stuffing her face and getting drunk, then so be it.

Merlin is wandering, looking more modern than usual, and grinning as he sips from a glass of wine. It is a very good night to get drunk, and eat, and forget.

He lifts a hand toward the woman and nods.

Sitting somewhere near the fire, Merlin smiles, and soaks in the heat. It's nice, and he is enjoying himself.

Around him, little motes of golden light dance.

"Whoa." Lenny watches the dancing lights in something of a trance.

New York has its reputation as a party town for a reason, but let's be honest; most New York City parties are, for Ray, an open invitation to social disaster and possibly burning wallpaper. (It happened once. Don't ask.)

Milliways parties are something else, largely because of the whole 'better with nonhumans than humans' thing and the part where everybody knows what to expect from him already. So he got away from the Firehouse- it's been a long day of slaving over a hot soldering iron- and headed to the Bar.

"Hey, Stantz! Some party, eh?" Knox sips his beer and his Hawaiian shirt is quite noticeable in the firelight.

Yuna's seated by the fire, watching the flames dance with half-lidded eyes. It's warm, and comfortable, and the flicker is soothing.

She's more than half-drowsing, and more than half-dreaming.

When you're in a wheelchair standing people are taller than you are. It's much easier to talk to those who are sitting. There's a soft squeaking sound as Barbara rolls over she looks over at Yuna and hopes she's not interrupting, "Pretty relaxing out here, isn't it?"

Mary emerges from the greenhouse, planning to set off around the lake towards the bar.

. . the plan doesn't last long.

"It is warm!" she exclaims, staring around - at the people, the bonfire, everything. "When did it turn summer?"

Someone didn't get filled in.

When he'd come in the bar and spotted the fire outside, at first Jack had been alarmed. At least until he'd gotten close to the door, and noticed that there was no snow outside, that people were sitting around and appearing to have a good time. Of course then he'd wondered how much time had passed since he'd been in the bar last, but it didn't take long to work out what was going on.

So at the moment, Jack's sitting in the circle around the fire with a bottle of beer in one hand and a stomach full of food. As to what kind of mood he's in, well. It's hard not to be in a good mood at a lake party, particularly when you've heard about it but never actually gotten to go to one.

That might change if someone strikes up with "Kumbaya", though.

It is entirely possible that an angular and skinny man is peering at him from relatively nearby.

He does not seem to be blinking.

"We, I think, have not so much met before, yes?"

Raven settles himself, all jagged angles and shadow, at the edge of the circle of firelight.

It is comfortable here, really.

He is a big fan of comfort.

And possibly soon there will be s'mores.

Some things are predictable as the tides.

Provided tides exist in the first place.

Aestitcally, the edge of shadow and light is always an interesting place to be. Shifting shapes and shading shadows, sharp and soft.

Angela recognizes someone she's met before and smiles.

"Hello. It's Raven, right?"

Angela has abandoned her labcoat, found something to drink, and is not about to spend her time at this party the way her best friend is.

(She will, in fact, be a little horrified if/when she learns that Bren turned this into an anthropological study of celebrations in created communities.)

Looks like a great way to meet new people, after all.

"I'm Lenny Inchpot, and I'll be your server this evening. Can I get you anything?"

After his diversion inside, Tom seeks Door out by the bonfire. They've traded lawn chairs for a large blanket spread on the sand, and bathing suits for more comfortable lounging-about clothes.

The bonfire is delightfully warm, and it's been a ripping day. Even with meeting a priest thrown in.

He sits down behind her, putting his arms around her waist and gently pulling her closer. "What is a beautiful woman like you sitting all by herself out here," he murmurs into her neck. "Your husband must be insane to leave you on your own."

Door leans back, smiling slightly.

If Tom could see her eyes, he'd recognize the mischief in them.

"Oh, I wouldn't dream of disputing that. It's such a mess, being shackled to a lunatic."

He's lounging on a cleared space of ground, well within the circle of light and warmth, a bottle (or two) of rum at hand.

Jack's watching the flames dance and looking entirely too pleased with the world.

"Devils and black sheep and really bad eggs," he sings, under his breath. "A pirate's life for me!"

Edmund laughs, strolling on the grass beside the path to keep pace with Barbara.

"Fairly self-explanatory, most of it, but all right."

"Ordinarily it's winter now, as I said, but that's essentially all that's changed. ell, and that grill's not usually there. But we've the lake, there -- there's a squid in it, and there was a shark for some time, but he seems to be gone now. Safe enough for swimming, at any rate."

...Er. Does she swim? Edmund might have avoided the issue if he'd thought ahead, but now that it's mentioned he's much too polite to do anything but carry on as he was.

"There's the greenhouse, there, and the stable and paddocks."

James has wandered outside, either again or for the first time depending on continuity. He has grabbed a glass of vodka and is seated somewhere around the fire, smiling to himself. Or to the women who pass him by.

On one side of the fire, Tonks has assembled some smooth, long sticks, marshmallows, chocolate bars, and graham crackers.

Apparently she prefers the 'set it on fire' method to s'mores making.

"Now that's what I'm talkin about." Says the tall red figure who'd come out to investigate the fire and party. Hellboy's got a beer held in his stone fist and he points at the assembled smore'ing items. "Can I?"

Among those relaxing by the bonfire are three young Tams.

Simon and Kaylee sit side by side on a large flat rock, broad enough to serve duty as a bench; River sits cross-legged on the grass next to it.

Yuna is passing by, with a cup of hot cocoa. She is approving of chocolate so far.

She is less approving of it, at least in boiling form, when she trips over a branch lying cunningly in the grass and splashes it all over her bare legs. "Ow!"

Melou's finally found the food and the booze and seems to have lost Angela amid the throng of people for the time being, but he's not worried. Yet. Certainly he can take a few minutes to sit by the fire, drink in hand, and relax.

Michelle finds herself in the bar and is relieved to see that she doesn't recognize many people sitting around the fire outside.

She's wearing a loose long sleeved shirt and is still able to sit up without needing support, something she knows will change in a short period of time.

Someone observant might notice that she's a little fuller and she's drinking juice instead of a beer.

"Hey, Michelle, when did you get in here?" Jack asks, walking over from where he was sitting.

What, and he would not have used this respite in winter weather to check to see how the start of his ship was holding up through the cold and snow?

Which it was, and that is what Wellard was doing earlier today. However, now he will sit and relax and enjoy the lake party.

There's a pirate leaning back on his elbow, not too far away.

Jack grins wickedly at Wellard.

"Much more better than the snow, aye?"

Raziel recognized the spectral version of the bar and knowing he might need a soul or two he headed out the strangely non existent door to the shore by the lake, he hoped no one was here. He noticed the bonfire and the essence that was beside it, this was one of two spot he could rematerialize. Sighing he began the process. To those looking on it would seem a zombie pushing up from the ground. He shook off stray bits of matter he didn't need and imposed his form on that which he needed. When he was finished h looked around and noticed the people and suddenly hated everyone. His eyes narrowed. Curiously there was no disturbance in the ground where he had materialized.

Goliath eyes the strange man curiously, having been standing close by when he emerged from the ground. "Good evening." He offers after a moment.

Bill is done with fishing for the day so he's got a seat on a rock by the fire and another plate of food and a beer. He may get up and mingle later but for now he's content to sit a spell.
