Lake Party Water Post Day Two

Sunshine Dust, the golden squid, frolics closer to shore today. There were so many people to play with in the lake yesterday! And squids need love and attention too!

There's a soft breeze coaxing the water into gentle waves, playing around the Black Pearl's sails.

If you didn't get a chance to swim yesterday, there is only today.

Tomorrow, it will be February again.

"Educate them?" Barbara is a firm believer in education. Of course she's got her own secrets, but she also has enemies who already want her dead.

"There are laws among my kind, Barbara." He states. "The main rule is to never break the Masquerade. So educating them wouldn't work. My city has been just fine with how its run. Resputable clubs... buisnesses that are booming. We don't mind living like that of the people around us. It keeps us safe."

She shrugs, "It gets tiring hiding all the time, though doesn't it?"

"No. It doesn't. Not for the Ventrue anyways."

"Huh."

She's silent for a moment, thinking. "Are you able to build many relationships outside your kind at home?"

"We can. If we didn't then we couldn't own a lot of the major businesses in my city."

Yes, he did just call the city his.

"You don't find it taxing to build relationships on lies?" Because she does. It doesn't stop her from doing it, of course, but that doesn't mean she's happy about it.

Her eyebrow quirks, "'Your city'? All of San Fransisco?"

"Just because one doesn't say what they are doesn't mean its a lie."

Then he nods. "I am the primogen, the leader of the Ventrue. The prince of the city. So, yes, all of San Francisco. Vampire wise."

"Do the vampires pull strings behind the scenes? Do you run the city for non-vampires too? Even if they don't know it?"

"I pull the strings. There are rules against the turning of humans among my kind. We don't pull the strings so to speak. Not unless we have to."

"So it is 'your town' in the sense that you rule the vampires there?"

"Yes."

Or as the vampires of the city put it... no, as he puts it... He is the judge, jury and executioner of his kind.

"Are you a beloved or a feared ruler? Or possibly both?" She wants to know what kind of person he is.

"I'm a bit of both."

Though Lillie swears that people respect him because they fear him.

She nods, that can work if the proper balance can be achieved.

"Would you care to go in?" He asks gesturing towards the water. After all, he figured she might with how she's staring out at it or was before he came along.

She sighs wistfully but shakes her head. "I do, but... I really shouldn't. What I should do is go home and check in. Dinah's plane should be landing soon, and I promised I'd call her."

Babs smiles up at him, "But I appreciate the offer. Very much so. Perhaps another time when it is pleasant outside?"

And she gets a smile in return, those brown eyes almost seeming to shine green. "Another time works just as well."
