Lake Party Water Post Day Two

Sunshine Dust, the golden squid, frolics closer to shore today. There were so many people to play with in the lake yesterday! And squids need love and attention too!

There's a soft breeze coaxing the water into gentle waves, playing around the Black Pearl's sails.

If you didn't get a chance to swim yesterday, there is only today.

Tomorrow, it will be February again.

Luckily for Yrael, fish didn't smell really. Not in the general sense at any rate.

"Patterned memories" she pointed out simply, then grinned and hugged him again "Okay, first, staying afloat in one place. Ever ride a bike?"

"No. But I think I saw one once, in Florence, while I was riding in a car."

And while he wasn't fiddling with all the buttons.

Yrael should never go into a spaceship.

"Okay, well, then just watch a moment okay?" she started treading water again, feet peddling slowly and gently, an exaggerated movement so he'd see it as her arms waved gently back and forth. "That'll keep your head above water okay?"

Rachel? Pushed buttons to.

"All... right."

He'll buy that. Letting go, he tries what Rachel did. His head mostly submerges a time or three before he gets the gist of it.

Stupid water.

It was just an element, they all had their own rules. Earth, air, water, fire...maybe he'd like it once he got to know it.

Once he was certainly keeping above water she nodded and slipped into an easy breast stroke. Another demonstration for his benefit. Back...forth...back...forth...

It'll take some mighty erosion to wear away four thousand years of engrained dislike.

He tries the breast stroke, coordination not being his problem, but trusting the water.

Indeed, it would...but he need not dislike what did not dislike in turn did he? Or perhaps he need not shut himself off so thoroughly from what was simply a part of existence...

Or perhaps Rachel would just poke and prod him teasingly for four thousand more...

And perhaps, perhaps he need not trust the water. But Rachel maybe...or himself.

He'll stay with it for four thousand years, if it matters enough to her to keep poking and prodding him about it.

Yrael is just uncomfortable in this element. It grates on the part of his mind that is not originally him.

He's trying, at least. He is... if not swimming well, then staying afloat by his own action.

Some things were worth poking and prodding about, her Lake being one of them.

...though the Mun has a very strange idea of yanking out said part of Yrael's mind and handing it to him as a small, white kitten.

And he is trying, which is more than she could have hoped from most, so she's there beside him, as she promised she would be.

[personal profile] mogget_cat 2007-02-14 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
That idea would turn out very, um, very badly.

It would not be pretty. It takes some explaining, but really. Not pretty.

"Would you take it badly if I cursed all water existing, specifically this lake, to get my mind off of what I am doing?" He manages to smile as he says this, as he, yes, swims.

The mun never thought she'd have need of an Yrael-in-water icon...

Oh yes, it would be a very bad idea, but...cute picture. In a burny kitten kinda way!

"Yep" she grinned "I would"

She'd probably dunk him.

And... his personality would be a lot less likeable. A LOT less likeable. He's more Mogget now than he is Yrael the Bright Shiner of the Beginning. He is Yrael, but in a handmedown sort of way.

"Okay, then," he continues swimming, getting better at it.

Cheerfully, "I'll just think it really loudly, then." Just to make sure.

[personal profile] futures_of_ash 2007-02-14 01:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep, that was assumed...but...one of those random "Huh" things.

She may dunk him for that to, really.

"Think away, if you really want, Yrael. Cause...I'll dunk you" she noted simply. "And swim like hell afterwards..."
mogget_cat: (h-relaxed)

[personal profile] mogget_cat 2007-02-14 01:20 pm (UTC)(link)
"It'd be a good incentive for me to learn to swim more quickly, then, wouldn't it?" Still cheerful, still swimming. A bit faster now, and a lot smoother.

[personal profile] futures_of_ash 2007-02-14 01:39 pm (UTC)(link)
"Point" so, in the interest of learning...there was firm push between his shoulders, of course accompanied by her dragging him back up to...then? Then she bolted.

There's that overwhelming wave of shudderingly nauseated disgust that Yrael holds for being in water. He'd held it in check until he was suddenly completely dunked under.

It's hard to push back, when one is trying not to give in to the part of one which wants to instinctively flail with claws out, and also trying to coordinate ones limbs to go faster after the cruel cruel taskmistress of this class of a single student who really hates the subject.

She knew the feeling of disgust, panic, rage...yes, and she did not ask forgiveness. That he would give in his own time should he choose.

What she could do though, was stay close, just close enough that the warmth of her presence was palpable, just far enough away that she wasn't patronizing him...

[personal profile] mogget_cat 2007-02-16 01:57 pm (UTC)(link)
For all that he feels towards water, the hate and abhorring disgust, not a single iota of it is directed towards her. He knows that she likes the water, and wishes him to know and like it as well. It's like him wishing Rachel to know and like the different tastes of food. It's something she wants to share. So there is no forgiveness to give for dunking him.

Also, it could be that revenge may be inacted when he finally does catch her. Turnabout, they say, is fair-play.
futures_of_ash: (Lake)

[personal profile] futures_of_ash 2007-02-16 02:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, but he has to swim better to catch her after all! A method in her madness!

...and she'd keep trying on the foods...

[personal profile] mogget_cat 2007-02-16 05:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Hence the word 'finally.' It'll take a while yet.

Good thing neither of them gets tired easily?

After a while, his hand'll almost catch her foot. Almost. Grrr.
