Suzi is still not outside. Whistler may come down later, and she meant what she said about preferring not to be out in huge crowds without him. So she's curled up on the end of the couch with a spread of snacks to lure people in for a conversation and a book for when nobody's biting.

"And I am a kitsune." She ducks her head- then closes her eyes blissfully. "Shapeshifter extraordinaire, and-

Laini blinks, then topples into Suzi's lap, and continues the roll to sprawl out, much more human-shaped, onto the rest of the couch.

"... He wants to learn to hack magic?"

"Uh huh." It is SO WEIRD to see that. Not to zlin it, Laini buggers the tentacles, but watching it is weird, "So that he won't get hit again? Like with the tofu?"

"Eh- I still haven't figured out the tofu myself. Magic's a tool, a way of doing things, and it does take time and work. Its not-" Laini waves her hand in the air, complete with sparkles and light effects-

"Poof, maaaaaaaaaaagic. Now, that said," She grins. "There are humans who learn magi-tech. There's actually more of them off on Earthside than miscellanious Others in Underhill, since most people Underhill tend to regard anything with tech as 'oooh, evil!" She makes a face, and crosses her forefingers in front of her.

"Magi-tech humans tend to be self-taught, and usually only partially know what they're doing, since they're not even sure about the magic themselves, but are approaching it all from the tech side of things. I've yet to meet a human who started out with the magic, and integrated it with tech well enough so it was actually both. Most people, human or otherwise, tend to stick with one or the other, and like to pretend the other doesn't exist."

"Laini?" She bites her lower lip, "If that happens again I may murder someone. Whistler wants to learn...will you teach us?"

She blinks, and studies Suzi for a long moment.

"I'll teach as much as I'm able. If neither of you have the aptitude for it, or ability- there's not much then I can do."

"That's fine." She says quietly, "All I'm asking is that you try." Suzi has the magical aptitude of an accountant, or a rock. Or a rock with a C.P.A. Something like that, "Thank you."

"There's still plenty of things someone can do from the tech-side of things." Laini nods, giving Suzi a reassuring smile.

"Even if you and Whistler both have the magical aptitude of a rock? I'll show you guys every non-magic trick I can think of."

"If I weren't monogamous and a channel, I'd kiss you." Suzi informs Laini cheerfully, "That's a huge weight off of my shoulders."

Laini mock-pouts, ears flattening. "Still nothing wrong with kissing."

She then giggles, and starts examining (by this, we mean taking a handful of different types) the laid out snacks.

"Sheesh- with common sense and thinking on your feet, there's a lot people can do without magic, even in situations that are totally strange and so-called 'other worldly'. Underhill was once a lot closer to Earthside, and you had powerful beings getting their asses handed back to them by totally normal humans, often enough .

Some of them? Are guaranteed that she's never seen before. They're from Suzi's time and world. They're all yummy, though, "We don't have, um, don't have magic where I'm from? And I just want to know how to deal with it...I don't really want to learn it?"

Ooooh. New things. Laini is graciously appretiative, meaning that said new things are getting grabbed first to try.

She giggles, looking back at Suzi. "Its like dealing with anything else you're not used to, chica. Think on your feet, common sense- and research ahead of time if you have the chance. That is 'dealing' with it, and I won't be tossing you in the deep end, like I've been tempted to do with others there to teach them how to deal with the strange and unordinary."

"I know that the strange and unordinary exists." Suzi says dryly, "Now I want to learn how to make it not hurt anyone."

"Hmmm." Laini leans back against the opposite corner of the couch.

"I'm rather strange and unordinary, though I'm sure its a matter of debate as to if I've hurt anyone or not." She waves a hand in the air.

"Probably sometimes, but then again, don't we all?"

"Yes," she says softly, "we do. I just...I love him. I never want him to hurt like he did over the tofu again."

"Well." She chuckles. "We can certainly see about what we can do to help that."

Look, Laini! You have a neck Sime! Suzi hugs her, "Thank you, thank you so very much!"

Weee! Neck Sime and hugs! Laini beams, hugging Suzi back.

"Hey! Not a problem. I'll just have to sort through what programs I have at home- been ages since I've seen about teaching anyone."

"Is there something I can do for you in return?" She asks, "And, um, you eat the rind of the pilah, not just the inside."

She blinks, ears flickering back, and closely investigates the pilah fruit.

"Don't know yet- we can certainly see what comes up and how things work out, y'know?"

"Uh huh." She says in return, privately deciding to knit tail-warmers for every one of Laini's tails.

Considering that Laini shares Suzi's tastes when it comes to clothing- (hey, silver jumpsuits are just the tip of the iceberg!)- she will absolutely love that.

Tail warmers and stripy socks.

The narration begins giggling madly.
