Suzi is still not outside. Whistler may come down later, and she meant what she said about preferring not to be out in huge crowds without him. So she's curled up on the end of the couch with a spread of snacks to lure people in for a conversation and a book for when nobody's biting.

Raven flops down on the other end of the couch at some point in the evening.

The outside air is nice, but sometimes a lack of crowd is also not so bad.

"Things are well, Suzi, I am hoping?"

"Uh huh." She says calmly enough, "How've you been?"

Forgive her. She has NO CLUE who she's talking to.

It is a very unfortunate thing that Raven rarely remembers that most people are not so good at ignoring bodies.

Also that perhaps last time they met Suzi was very distressed, indeed.

"I have been well enough, I think. You are not so much for swimming?"

Suzi is very good at ignoring bodies. It's the distressed that's a problem. "I don't know how to swim." She says with a shrug, "And there are too many people out there anyway."

Raven nods.

"They are, I think, very good at taking up space."

Beat.

"I am more fond of flying, I think."

You know, so they are on a similar page re: swimming.

That is always helpful, right?

"The nagers would give me a headache." And that wouldn't be any fun at all. "I've never flown, you need more ID to fly in Whistler's world."

Raven looks puzzled for a moment.

"ID?"

He tilts his head, blinking.

"It is machines, then?"

"Yes." firmly. Very, very firmly, "Machines. I don't have magic." And doesn't want any, either.

Raven would certainly not offer to give it to her.

Well, not permanently. Still.

"They are noisy, I think."

He makes a face.

"Also close."

"I like trains." She says quietly, smiling one of those sorts of smiles.

Raven tilts his head a little farther, looking very curious, indeed.

"They are the ones that go very fast?"

Possibly they are not thinking about the same kinds of trains.

"The ones with cars you can have sex in." At least she clears things up quickly, "Amtrak."

"They are often limited so?"

There is a nager behind you, Suzi! A curious one at that, as there is a silver fox, seven-tailed, perched on the arm and back of the couch to see what Suzi is reading.

Unless the Fox reads Braille, it's all...Braille to the Fox. "Hi, Laini. Joy is gonna go nuts when she smells you."

Laini may have translating programs for it, but certainly does not read it herself. She grins at Suzi, flicking her ears back.

"That's if and only if she smells me. How goes it, Suzi?"

"She's a puppy. She'll figure it out." Suzi says, reaching up with a tentacle to rub behind the Fox's ears, "We're good. Oh! Um...Whistler wants to learn how to hack magic!"

"And I am a kitsune." She ducks her head- then closes her eyes blissfully. "Shapeshifter extraordinaire, and-

Laini blinks, then topples into Suzi's lap, and continues the roll to sprawl out, much more human-shaped, onto the rest of the couch.

"... He wants to learn to hack magic?"

"Uh huh." It is SO WEIRD to see that. Not to zlin it, Laini buggers the tentacles, but watching it is weird, "So that he won't get hit again? Like with the tofu?"

"Eh- I still haven't figured out the tofu myself. Magic's a tool, a way of doing things, and it does take time and work. Its not-" Laini waves her hand in the air, complete with sparkles and light effects-

"Poof, maaaaaaaaaaagic. Now, that said," She grins. "There are humans who learn magi-tech. There's actually more of them off on Earthside than miscellanious Others in Underhill, since most people Underhill tend to regard anything with tech as 'oooh, evil!" She makes a face, and crosses her forefingers in front of her.

"Magi-tech humans tend to be self-taught, and usually only partially know what they're doing, since they're not even sure about the magic themselves, but are approaching it all from the tech side of things. I've yet to meet a human who started out with the magic, and integrated it with tech well enough so it was actually both. Most people, human or otherwise, tend to stick with one or the other, and like to pretend the other doesn't exist."

"Laini?" She bites her lower lip, "If that happens again I may murder someone. Whistler wants to learn...will you teach us?"

She blinks, and studies Suzi for a long moment.

"I'll teach as much as I'm able. If neither of you have the aptitude for it, or ability- there's not much then I can do."

"That's fine." She says quietly, "All I'm asking is that you try." Suzi has the magical aptitude of an accountant, or a rock. Or a rock with a C.P.A. Something like that, "Thank you."

"There's still plenty of things someone can do from the tech-side of things." Laini nods, giving Suzi a reassuring smile.

"Even if you and Whistler both have the magical aptitude of a rock? I'll show you guys every non-magic trick I can think of."

"If I weren't monogamous and a channel, I'd kiss you." Suzi informs Laini cheerfully, "That's a huge weight off of my shoulders."
