"Just leave me alone, I'm not doing anything to you."
"You're in the way Sandy."
"Let's put him out of the way."
The door swings shut - a gym locker door today - with an eight-year-old Guppy with his coat and jumper hooked neatly onto the peg so that his legs dangle. He looks surprised to say the least that he's ended up back in the bar he was in the other day, but right now is more concerned about what his mum will say about the stretched jumper. He squirms, trying to lift himself up on the peg so that he can unhook himself.
And then sighs, because being stuck on the inside of a locker door is just plain embarrassing.
Little help over here?

(Not that Molly's scared of frogs - how could she be? - but that's not the point. Stupid girls.)
Milkshake and dinner are promptly abandoned in favour of the little kid hanging on the door.
"...Dude, what happened to you? D'you want a hand?"

"Okay, I'm gonna grab your legs and raise you up off the hook-thing, okay? You'll have to push away from the door so the hook doesn't catch again."

Which is a bit simplistic, even by Molly's standards, but then Guppy's currently even smaller than she is, so that's probably okay.
She kneels, and grabs his legs, supporting him. "Okay, gonna lift you now, 'kay?"
no subject
He nods and looks at her nervously.

Molly lifts him easily, as though he doesn't weigh anything at all.
"Are you off the peg now?"
no subject
"Yeah, thanks."
He wobbles forwards.

However, the needs of kids might be able to outweigh his fear.
"Hey, door-kid! You been near any toilets lately?"
no subject
Who or what on Earth is that?
no subject
"I'll take that as a 'no.' Plus your feet don't look particularly giant."
He sits by the table.
"Do you hang around on hooks often?"
no subject
"I got put here."
no subject
"Oh! I see."
Even though he doesn't.
"Do you want down?"
no subject
no subject
"Man, whoever put you up here musta been tall," he says, still invisibly supporting the boy.

Catching sight of him when the squirming happens, Katara loses interest in her snack at the bar to stare in surprise.
For about two seconds. Then she's Mommying It Up.
"Oh no, are you okay? How did you get up there?"
Don't worry, Guppy - she's heading over to help you get down.
no subject
Except the part where it totally doesn't work.

Katara's hands pause for a second on their way to helping to lift him, but are on his waist a second later. "How did you fall up?" she asks, in what may be a familiar voice, depending.
It depends on just how stern his mother got when he lied about brushing his teeth.
no subject
"With difficulty miss."
Guppy always brushes his teeth. His daddy told him he'd smell and nobody would like him if he didn't.
no subject
Sighing softly, she lifts and sets him on the ground with not too much difficulty, taking her hands away immediately to keep him from flinching again. "Well... now that you're here, maybe we can keep you from falling up again." Smiling, she offers her hand. "I'm Katara - you don't have to call me miss-anything."
no subject
He fidgets and smiles awkwardly.
no subject
"What's your name?" she prompts, since he doesn't seem inclined to give. And is also, totally subtly, leading him toward the bar. Growing boys who are bullied and hung on doors need cookies.
no subject
He follows cautiously.
