He wanders downstairs, contented smile on his face, new cat perched quite happily on his shoulder, steps easy and light. It's early, but he has a feeling that he's going to be put away tonight so he figures he'll have a little fun.
no subject
"Hey, Nick." He points with his glass, "What's with the cat?"
no subject
"This is Janette, a cat that Meg ended up giving me last night. Apparently, the little darling followed her in and she felt she wouldn't be able to care for her. So I took her in. She reminds me of my sister a little, you know, thus the name. And how are you, Connor? Well, I should hope."
His voice is polite and friendly.
no subject
"Janette, huh? Sister? You never mentioned a sister."
"I'm doing well. But you -- are you all right?" he asks as he casually sips his drink, looking very much like he's just making conversation.
no subject
in another threadearlier before holding out his arm for the cat to hop down to his lap."Yes, my sister. Well, another child of LaCroix anyway. Her name is Janette and she was my lover for some time, but always my friend and a source of comfort."
He smiles up at Connor, red eyes glowing.
"Would you care to pet her? She's quite sweet."
no subject
"What's with the eyes? It's not a bad look, really, just a bit - different." Still with the casual conversation tone.
no subject
"Oh, I can change them if you like. They'll always glow because that's juts how I am, but I can make them blue if you like. I don't mean to make you uncomfortable. We both like you a great deal despite the fact that you got us drunk one night. Then again, since that had a rather happy ending to it all, not to mention that it was great fun, we don't really care. You're fun, Connor."
no subject
"No. Red's fine."
He's a bit concerned about the sudden shift from singular to plural pronouns, but mentally shrugs that off until it becomes a problem.
"So, what's been going on with you? Heard you tried to cripsy-fry yourself a little while back. Reasons on that bit of insanity?"
no subject
He says all this in a vaguely disinterested tone as he continues to pet the cat.

And he goes back to petting the cat.

"You're the first one to consider me Nick. It's really rather nice, considering. LaCroix seems to think of me as Him or the Other, which is unfair, I think. You're welcome to call me just 'Nick' though. Really, we're the same person. Just...different facets."
no subject
"Yeah, well, Nick-two, what's the difference in the facets?"

"You're welcome to, sir. She's very sweet."

*He reaches out to pet the cat, which looks at his fingers with a quizzical look.*

Nick is a vampire, who has not only excellent vision, but excellent hearing and excellent olfactory senses. He is quite well aware that the Librarian is a large orangutang. The large black cat, who's fur is feather soft since He'd given her a bath last night, meows lightly at the finger before giving it a small lick.
no subject
Oook ook eeek ookeeruk. *He nods benignly.*
*He also happens to be holding a cup of tea with one foot and balancing on the other.*
no subject
He grins.
"I'm Nick. Nice to meet you. And you are, sir?"
no subject
Ook eek?

Ook!
*He keeps patting and looks fondly at the cat, who is currently purring.* Ookneek. *This is his best approximation of 'Jeanette'.*
no subject
He smiles.
"I will say, sir, that you are the first orangutang I've met while here. Well, either of us honestly. Nick hasn't met one and neither have I. It's proving a refreshingly novel and lovely experience. I'm a vampire, by the way, but you have nothing to fear from me. I don't like hurting people."
no subject
Ook! *He pauses at the 'vampire' bit and visibly inspects his lapels for the black ribbon of the Temperance League. Still, 'refreshingly novel' and 'lovely'? He likes this human.
So, he hugs it. Simians are very good at giving bear hugs.* Oook!
no subject
"I appreciate the affection, though I think perhaps Janette is a little disturbed?"
Which isn't true, really, since the cat just happens to be on Nick's head (since she has no trouble with orange fur unless it is coming at her in a wall about to crush her to her Master).
Nick smiles.
"Would you like something to eat or drink? I'd suggest a banana, but I don't wish to play into such stereotypes without asking your actual preference."
