David walks into the bar. You think he'd have seen it. He goes to the buffet table, fills up a plate, and sits down at a table with a notebook and a pen and is lost deep in concentration, writing.
If anyone should approach him, they'd probably need to poke him to get his attention.

"Well hello," he says, grinning from ear-to-ear at her.

"Hello, David! Happy Saint Nicholas' Day!" Without explaining, he pulls the sack that is over his shoulder to the front, where he reaches in and pulls out a little black bag. He holds it out for David.
"Sorry for the drab color. It was...all I had. But the cookies are very good, I promise. I...hope you enjoy them."

He accepts the back happily, opening it and smelling deep. In an attempt not to salivate and flood the bar, he closes the back and sighs happily. "They smell delicious!"
And he points to the chair. "The colour matters not; take a seat with me?"

"I'll sit for a moment or two, but I have lots of bags to deliver, you see."
And sits.
"So how are you, David?"
Nick looks happier than he's been in a while.

"Any explanation?"
Not that he needs one. David likes to see people happy.

Apparently, it was the vampire thing.
She purrs, faintly.

He scritches her in all the right places.

Seeing who it is, David neither smiles nor scowls.
He offers a small waving-of-his fingers.
