[OOM: Enzo's first Game as a Guardian is more than meets the eye. Rated N for Non-explicit Naughtiness in the prologue and R for ROBOTS!]

One thing no one likes about Games - even those who generally enjoy them, like Enzo - is when they come down in the middle of the night. It may not be bad at the time, but you always pay for it later. On the other hand, no one expects you to be fully functional the day after.

Enzo wants to be, though. He's his system's newest Guardian, for as long as he's still at home, and he owes it to the system to be fully alert and on the ball when he's on duty. And a Guardian is always on duty.

So he's cheating. Hooray for Milliways time-freeze!

In other words: green boy napping onna couch. With a teddy bear. Frisket's curled up on the couch, too, and kind of crowding Enzo's feet.

Dani also lets out a squeak of surprise. She considers herself lucky that she didn't fall off of the boggie baud.

"Danny!" she shouts, miffed.

Welcome to another aspect of having an older brother, Dani.

Something about Danny's expression tells Enzo's survival instincts that it might be a very good idea to release Dani's shoulder. He does so, and also gently disengages his arm on the pretext of retrieving the teddy bear. A distraction might also be in order.

Fortunately, they have a change of subject very conveniently to hand. "Are we glad to see you!" Enzo tells him. (It's true enough, even if right now wasn't the most convenient time.) "I had an idea and you both need to come to Mainframe, not for the wedding, I mean like right away!"

"How about you tell me about it on the ground?"

So they had no reason to be near each other anymore.

"Um? Okay..." If you say so, Danny. Of course, now that the baud is in motion, Enzo has to take hold of Dani's shoulder again, for safety's sake. Dowwwwn we go, easy glide.

Dani tries her darndest not to blush when Enzo put his hand back on her shoulder. Don't want to give Danny any more reason to kill Enzo, after all.

When they reach the ground Dani hops off of the baud. "Thanks for the ride." The comment is directed at Enzo, but the dirty look is for Danny.

"You're very welcome," Enzo answers graciously. The look he gives Danny isn't so much dirty as sulky.

Danny landed, and transformed back, still eying the too of them in his overprotective big brotherish fashion.

"So what's this idea of yours?"

"Well, when Dani gets digitized, her instability'll be in code instead of genes," he explains excitedly. "And Mouse fixed Bob's code, so she should be able to fix Dani's too!"

"We need you to come to Mainframe too, so Mouse knows what to fix!" adds Dani.

Isn't it a great plan?

"Code would be easier than DNA, wouldn't it..."

Dani nods. "And we already know the people from Mainframe" well, Danny knows some better than Dani anyway "so we know we can trust them."

"We need to make sure the change from person to code won't destabilize you though. I need to talk to Ray and Harper for that."

Enzo rolls his eyes a bit at 'person', but he's given up trying to correct the Users on that one.

Dani catches the eyeroll and lightly places her hand on Enzo's arm to assure him that it's okay.

"Okay," she says in response to Danny's comment.

He couldn't say "human to code," because he and Dani were only half.

And hey! Hey! He sees what you did there! With the arm.

What's up with the hand on the arm, huh?

"If it seems safe for you to go in, then we'll see what they can do." He looked to Enzo, the annoyed look from the hand on the arm fading. "It's a really good idea, Enzo. I mean, really good. Thank you for it. I got a few geneticists biting when I put up my notice on the bulletin board, but none of them seemed really trustworthy..."

'Halfa to code'?

And Enzo likes the hand on the arm.

Enzo beams. "You can trust Mouse. She's way more trustworthy than she was the first time I met her. Well, I didn't meet her that time, it was Matrix but he was still me, only he didn't really meet her either 'cause she'd taken over his brain and she sneaked off before anyone could talk to her..."

"She took over his brain."

"Only by mistake," he says with a cheery shrug. "Megabyte hired her to take over Bob's brain, but Bob let Matrix have the first sip of his energy shake so she and Hack and Slash ended up in the wrong sprite."

Ah, the old cycles with their wacky antics.

"That's not exactly inspiring a huge amount of trust here, Enzo..."

He shook his head.

"But I guess we have to look into it. It's a chance, right? Dani, you're up for this?"

Her face, for once, is completely serious.

"Definitely."

"Oh yeah." Enzo looks thoughtful. "But that was hours ago, and she's totally trustworthy now! To us, anyway." And that's the important part here, isn't it?

He smiles over at Dani. Automatically, his hand reaches for hers.

And automatically, she takes it.

"C'mon, Danny." If he says no, she will be very surprised.

What is with all the handholding?!

But as for trying it...

"I guess it's our best bet..." Our. In his head, this wasn't just her problem, it was his, too. His responsibility to fix it or find someone who could, and fortunately for them, Enzo gave them a solution on a silver platter.

"I'll talk to Harper and Ray and as long as it's okay on your end, Enzo, we'll go as soon as we can."

"Alphanumeric!" Enzo grins, and gives Dani's hand a squeeze. "I'll ask Dot and Mouse right away! Thanks, Danny!"

Dani squeezes back, then lets go of Enzo's hand and leaps at Danny, hugging him around the waist.

"Thanks, Danny," she echoes.
