Amanda is sitting next to the fire sewing a dress, it's slow going but she is determined to get it right. Her long brown hair tied back in a ponytail her clothes are mostly lost under the mounds of cloth she is working on.

The fire is warm, if you are nearby she might strike up a conversation, at lwast if you look amiable to such a thing.

This is a man who hasn't seen Amanda in a long time, and a man this version of Amanda might not know.

He hasn't forgotten.

His hand goes to his neck where a certain pendant the previous Amanda gave him is.

Perhaps he should join her, now that he's bothered to come downstairs into the bar.

If you live long enough, you come to learn to read faces enough to know when the person you're looking at does not know who you are.

No confusion; they really don't know you at all.

Still...

"Good evening Amanda."

There's a significant pause for a moment of "huh?" on his part.

Future? Ah, yes. He'd overheard that term before. Used by those people encountering others from their world but not from their time. Those people were either from the past or the future.

To say nothing of being from alternate variations of those worlds.

"I know you. Or will know you. You are Amanda. I am Strahan. Someone you would encounter in the future but for the fact you are meeting me now."

And being immortal [well, not at the moment], there's plenty of time to adapt.

"As it is you." Dare he say he might have missed her? Uhm, no. Not yet. "What is it you are working on? Some manner of gown?"

[identity profile] seker-pride.livejournal.com 2007-10-10 06:02 am (UTC)(link)
"What is it supposed to look like, this 'kimono'?"

Gowns to him involve a lot of flowing skirts. And bustiers. And other things you associate with gowns.

[identity profile] seker-pride.livejournal.com 2007-10-10 07:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Most peculiar a garment.

Yet simple. In its own way.

"And for what purpose is this 'kimono' intended for?"

[identity profile] seker-pride.livejournal.com 2007-10-10 08:01 pm (UTC)(link)
"All of the people in this Tokyo?" The way he says it makes it sound like he said something else.

[identity profile] seker-pride.livejournal.com 2007-10-10 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
"So men do not wear these gowns."

Wonder if he's ever heard of a kilt yet? Heh.

"I am from a kingdom called 'Solinde', though my home there is located deep in the mountains to be found in the north-east of Solinde."

[identity profile] seker-pride.livejournal.com 2007-10-11 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
Because Solinde is one of them fantasy type places.

"I would believe so. I am—or was—close to my god there."

Was, because right now he's rather disillusioned by Asar-Suti.

Who isn't the god he was any more.

[identity profile] seker-pride.livejournal.com 2007-10-11 07:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Strahan has a mostly sceptical look. It's possible, but unlikely. Part of Asar-Suti becoming more like the being he was means saying he doesn't want to be with Gil any more.

That ain't gonna happen.

"One can hope. But if it is not possible then perhaps one must learn to do without or find another to follow."

One who doesn't mind Strahan being himself.

[identity profile] seker-pride.livejournal.com 2007-10-12 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
Amanda is given a strange look.

"I would be my own master, had my plans been fulfilled. Since they were not, I am a follower, not the followed. The servant, not the master."

Rather strange thing to say.

[identity profile] seker-pride.livejournal.com 2007-10-13 09:04 pm (UTC)(link)
"It depends on their social status, but most women wear some manner of dress. The wealthier they are, the more elaborate the dress."

Keely of course, scorned dresses and insisted upon leggings instead.

Ah. Well. That's Keely.

[identity profile] seker-pride.livejournal.com 2007-10-16 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
"It is a cultural thing. Homana is very distinct from Solinde. And both kingdoms are proud of their traditions to the point of cultural arrogance."

Which, incidentally, is something everyone at home indulges in.

[identity profile] seker-pride.livejournal.com 2007-10-16 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)
"I see." He stops for a moment. "Do you like this culture? I would gather that it is not like your own."
