Ramon's had a lot on his mind lately, not that he'll probably admit it. It does explain the rather distant look on his face though, as he toys with a tequila in his booth.
Distractions may or may not be welcome, depending on what he thinks of you. But that shouldn't be a deterrent to anyone wanting to talk to him.

There was a time when the first thing Chris would have done upon entering the bar was to scan to see if Ramon was there and where he was, just so she could avoid him. However, time has made her careless and as she sits at the table across from him, the engagement ring on her left hand has distracted her.
(Yes, she actually is thinking about how dreamy her boyfriend is and wondering what their wedding will be like.)

Silly Chris! Because there's no way in hell he's going to pass up an opportunity to bug her, despite his last encounter with Jack. He's never too distracted for that. So his eyes flicker over her and whaddya know, that ring catches his eye too.
Hence, he's wearing a nice big smirk as he calls over,
'Long time no see, Chris. Though it looks like you've been busy.'
Most of him hopes that the guy is not Jack because that would obviously mean him getting dumped at some point.

He lights a cigarette casually and jerks his head in the direction of her hand.
'Jack? Or some other lucky guy?'
The way he says it implies that he's using the word 'lucky' in the loosest possible terms.

There's an annoyed sigh and right now she really wishes she had stopped at the bar for a drink. Finally, almost perversely curious about his response, she looks at him and says, "Jack."

'Well,' he says, dryly. 'You're brave, I'll give you that.'

It probably is, knowing Bauer. Asshole.
'But unless he's had some major personality overhaul that I dont know about, you know as well as I do that it'll never work out.'

'Jack's...Jack. He'll never change. You'll either go the way of his first wife and Claudia, or you'll never see him.'
He hasn't seen Jack in a year or more but he's as confident saying this as he would be if Jack were still working for him. Guys like that dont change.

"Your concern is touching. Have you ever considered counseling?" That the statement could be taken two ways is not lost on Chris. "You could set up a practice right here in Milliways. I'm sure people would just flock to you for relationship advice."
no subject
He laughs because he knows he's right in this case and he's willing to bet that Chris does too.
'I could make a whole lot of money just by telling the truth. Thanks for the idea. Jack and his various disasters with women would be a decent money-spinner all on its own.'

'Sure, sure. I expect every single one of them have thought that.'
Some guys just aren't built to be domestic. Jack's one of them.

"I hate to break this to you, Ramon, I really do," she drawls in a way that suggests quite the opposite, "but it's been over five years since Jack went undercover in Mexico. You don't know him as well as you think. Considering that the two of you are actually from different universes, I don't think you ever did."
no subject
'I don't know if we ever established that we're from different universes for sure.' Their conversations rarely got past threats or violence. 'But it doesn't make much difference to me. He's still the same man, even if there are a few circumstantial differences in events.'
no subject
"If you say so."

'You're going to believe what you want to believe because you love him. But it's stupid to ignore what I say because you're afraid of the truth about him. It makes no difference to me whether you marry him or not and whether it works or not.'
Other than the fact that he hopes Jack is miserable for the rest of his hopefully short life, obviously.
no subject
"Hate to cut this short," she says tartly, standing up to leave, "but I'm going to go now and think of how afraid of the truth I am."
no subject
'You do that, sweetheart. Tell him hi from me - and also that he should try not to fuck this one up.'
He sincerely sincerly hopes he does. He'll laugh.
