(no subject)

Outside, by the lake, there's a Rock God.

He's not doing anything of much consequence, really. Just throwing chunks of meat into the water, watching tentacles of his squid friends come to pluck the hunks of beef from the thin ice. It was like feeding the ducks, only more brutal.

Toki is botherable.

"What are you doing?" came the puzzled query, from the tiny vampirate, bundled up in a fur-lined coat that she'd borrowed from Bar to go outside in.

What? It was colder-than-polar here, at least for her, and even though she didn't really feel the cold, sometimes she liked to pretend. And besides, the coat was stylish.

She smiled, hands clasped in front of herself for a moment, swinging in a half-circle, "Thank you! I borrowed it from Bar, it's cold out here." She tilted her head, blinking at the beef, but she took it all the same, slinging it out across the ice, almost like a bocce ball, "I didn't know he ate meat."

She laughed at that, shaking her head, "Sometimes they'd wave to me when I was sitting over on that rock in the daytime, when I got stuck here before."

A shrug, "Oh, you know, the usual pirate stuff, pillaging and plundering, and really not so much of that, actually, just sailing around in the dark of night and all."

She tilted her head, "It exists?" She shook her head, "I've always thought it was just a story." Her brow creased slightly then, "Though I suppose I should have known better, after all, the Captain and his ship and the rest of us are supposed to be 'just a story' as well."

She nodded at that, smiling once more, "Well, ships need captains, otherwise they aren't good for much. He's got a crew I hope. A good one. Ship's nothing without a captain, captain isn't much without a crew." Another smile, "And a crew's not much more than a mob without a ship."

She nodded, "Oh I have, and I doubt those have changed much over the ages. And that's good at least, keeping things in order I trust." She shrugged then, "Not a lot would get done asea without being in order."

She smiled again at that, nodding, "Sounds rather as if he'd get on well with the Captain, he's all about keeping things steady as well, making sure everything's done, done well, and done on time."

"Do you worship them?" I asked, standing in Curiosity.

What? The Gedri are strange creatures, and thus it was a valid question.

"Do they speak to you?" I had been swimming several times, and while I had seen the creatures, I had not believed them to be sentient.

I hissed lightly. "Yes, a dragon, or Kantri, as we call ourselves. I am called Kédra," I answered, dipping my head and sending a wave down my long neck.

"Well met, Toki," I answered, unsure if I should laugh or not. To use the human term, I had never been fanboyed before, or at least not so exuberantly. It was an interesting experience.

"You are welcome to introduce us. I am living here for now and would be glad to meet this 'bandmate' of yours."

"What is a guitar?" My knowledge of human instruments was sadly limited to the lute.

"I live here while I am Bound, as many others do, or so I have been told. I do not fit in the bar, so I have not been able to see for myself." Knights? Vikings? In truth, if I asked about every word I did not know, half of my conversations would consist of nothing but.

"You honour me, Toki," I answered, dipping my head again.

"If you wrote a song about me, I would consider that an honour," I explained.

The Gedri was again using words I did not know. "...that would perhaps be best," I managed, a little lost. Maybe I would learn what he referred to if I saw it.

Skwisgaar had been mid-rant about going outside in 'de dildos weather' when it finally got through to him just what Toki had been flailing about.

After all, Kédra was rather difficult to miss, being a dragon-sized dragon and all.
"...oh. I sees." And likely he'd be flailing as well, once he got over the shock.

Pompeii, the kitten-sized copper dragon perched on his shoulder was apparently equally in awe, at least until he decided that the guitarists clearly needed to be protected from the other dragon, craning his head forward and hissing, spitting sparks. About as menacing as an irate kitten as well.

It did not take long for the Gedri to return, this time with one other. "Greetings to you. I am called Kédra," I said calmly, dipping my head and sending a wave down my neck. "Are you Sskwhisghaar?"

Then the impossibly tiny Kantri on the human's shoulder hissed. I stood in open Shock a moment, before hissing in Agitation, "Hhow dhoo thou hast a youngling hwit thee?"

Immediately, I called in the Language of Truth to the littling, "May I bespeak thee? I am called Kédra."
