Armand walks downstairs, and looks around distastefully.
Loudly, he asks, "Does no one observe tradition anymore?" He sighs and walks to the bar, shouting into the back. "Where's the tree?"

He beams.
Armand, ever the 17-year-old.

"Only not so many people repent for their sins nowadays. They usually just add onto them, no matter how often they attend church."
He points to the wreaths and things strung about the place.
"This is all based in paganism; the olde religion. Even before my Master was born they celebrated life, death and renewal at this time of year. It's rather incredible."

Of course, Elphie has issues with religion in general, and this holiday in particular. So her she's...opinionated.

"You're right! I hadn't noticed - there's no Christmas tree yet. I earmarked a nice one down by the lake about a month ago." he looks around but the bar is quiet. "Would you like to help me fetch it, Armand?"

He puts the food quickly on the buffet then nods towards the kitchen door. "Shortcut?" he suggests. "Though you might want to put something warm on first."

His face is completely boyish, eyes lit up, mouth smiling ear-to-ear.
"Lead the way!"

He makes a gesture of invitation and trots through the kitchen door holding it open for his guest. He smiles as he sees Sooty following as well then leads the way to the tool store and gets a shovel and a pair of loppers.
"This way," he says leading the way towards the lake and a distant clump of evergreens.

"Is it an awfully big tree?"

That young man is Richard's lover, he remembers.

He smiles. "I'll go and get a shovel."

Asar-Suti approves of religious festivals; any god would. Even a Dark GOd.

"And yes, a religious gift-giving festival that has roots in ancient paganism, if you want to be truthful about it."
And coming from Armand, that's a great secret or something.

"I love walking by the lake, yes", he adds, a bit melancholy. Yesterday, his walk rather ended in desaster. But he likes the place anyway.

"There were many Gods and Goddesses in many different cultures, but in my present day, many of the festivals have roots in paganism. The Christmas Tree is a Pagan symbol. Can't remember what for, though, but there you go."
He pats Asar-Suti's shoulder, sensing a little melancholy. "Then let's walk by the lake and find our tree."
