In light of the latest wave of new arrivals (Random has spotted the pattern, have you?) the King of Amber is out on a couch, doing his paperwork and whistling, ready to give directions or explanations, or just generally be normal at anyone who comes by looking new.

He has a lot of fun playing the comforting, friendly type.

"It is almost painful to watch." Marsh admits, "So many people with so much, no Allomancers, Obligators, or Inquisitors. No fear. Not like Skaa suffer."

Random nods, slowly. He doesn't know the individual worlds, but he knows the type of things that Marsh means. The cruelty that people are capable of, and opression and slavery and loss of hope.

Those are universal.

"It's a lucky place."

Marsh holds up the water again, "Yes." he says simply, "It is."

"Do you think you'll be staying?"

It's no doubt better than where he's coming from, but people like Marsh usually have something to fight for.

"For a time." Marsh admits, "I have some things I need time to come to grips with before I go home."

"It's a good place for that, too. And is almost guaranteed to broaden your perspective."

He shrugs.

"Mostly because you never know who you're going to meet."

"I do not know how much of a broad perspective I can handle." Marsh says, "When I return it will be to the same situation."

"You may find yourself surprised. I don't know what the situation is, though, obviously."

So not to generalize.

"Ash." Marsh says flatly, "Slavery. Eventual death when the Lord Ruler decides to purge all Skaa over a certain age to 'cull the herd'."

"Are you trying to change all of it?" His fingers drum. "Do you stand a fighting chance?"

"I am no longer leader of the Skaa rebellion." Marsh says, "And no. We do not."
