It kind of comes as no surprise that Clark and Chloe wander in to Milliways after a lunch on the town. After saving the world (okay, not the world but Bart and the Metropolis area contingent of super powered individuals) and putting up with a five minute rant from Lois about why men suck, there really is no other logical choice.
There's no Lex Luthor to fight here. No Lois to be bitched at by. Absolute peace and relaxation and the best coffee in the universe.
So as Clark goes to grab a booth, Chloe goes to get two lattes. Yeah. They totally deserve today.
[ooc: two pups, two muns!]

Chloe still doesn't believe him. More than that: "You could've mentioned her."

He sighs. This isn't exactly the way he'd planned on things going. "I just met her a few weeks ago, okay?"
no subject
"A few weeks is a lot of time."

"I wasn't talking about her."

"Hello, I'm back."
Beat.
"May I join you two?"

Chloe puts on a bright grin, ready to pretend that nothing had happened since the goddess left for tea.
"Not much of a coffee fan?"
no subject
"Not everyone lives by the bean, Chlo."

"Turkish coffee, on occasion, is a wonderful way to boost my awareness. Unfortunately it only lasts a minute or two."
She shrugs.
"I am trying to discover as many different drinks as I can. Do you have any suggestions?"

And mochas and espresso and even a regular cup of joe. But overall? Chloe's favorite caffinated beverage will always be the latte.

"Thank you."
Of course, the serene look lasts only so long as her first sip of latte, after which a surprised glint flashes through her gaze.
"This," pronounces Pax, "is better than tea."

She flashes her friend a sweetly smug smile. He can live without a latte for a day. She can't. All of this? Is Chloe's way of saying 'I'm glad you like it.'

Chloe smirks a little as she picks up her latte and takes a sip. She cups the mug between both hands, enjoying the warmth of the coffee.
"So, Eirene, how'd you two meet?"
no subject
"I was bartending," he starts off, helpfully. "She ordered a Metropolis."
no subject
Eirene props her chin in one hand, the fingers of the other idly turning the latte in circles.

"I'm not a boy scout." Yes, he's still a little bitter about being saddled with that name. "They just needed someone to step in, like we did before."
Moving on. "Then I found her drunk and dancing around because she'd just been to wedding. I think she even tried to get me to dance with her, but I managed to avoid disaster."

There is a long pause, in which her smile slips so briefly it may not be noticed,"And then he let me cry on him when I was having a very bad day."
Beat.
"Clark is a very good man."
no subject
"He is," she agrees. "He's been my best friend since I moved to Smallville."
no subject
"That's because you made me take you home with me."
no subject
"There is nothing wrong with being virtuous." She's eying the blushing with some small confusion.
