There are quite a number of brightly colored plastic things all over the floor in Milliways. We're talking, easily thirty of each four types of manipulatives.

You have not even SEEN a mess before you have seen the way a toddler can mess up a room with a bunch of tiny plastic toys. As for the toddler in question, she is planted somewhere in the middle of the mess, playing with the toys. She is still wearing the shirt with names all over it (BOO! being the prominent one) and the house shoes that jingle and sing. Every once in awhile she'll wiggle her feet and either jinglejingle or "If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands" can be heard. And next to her is a pink adult sized throw made out of what is possibly the softest material ever.

Oh the fun she's having.

Kate jogs after Boo, picking up the towel that had flown off Boo's tiny shoulders.

"Not so fast, Gracie-Boo," she half-laughs, scooping up Boo and wrapping her in the towel just before they reach the stairs. "Visiting Fred is what happens after you're dry and changed, okay?"

This will ~~probably~~ be an unpopular mandate, but determined Kate is determined.

Boo giggles and squirms when she's picked up - and giggles more.

She can live with visiting Fred as long as she's being carried. All that running gets hard on the feet, you know.

She reaches up and touches Kate's nose.
"Nos!"

Kate chuckles at the nose-booping.

"My nose," she nods as they make their way to the bathroom. And, since she doesn't have a free hand at the moment, she brushes Boo's nose with her own in an Eskimo kiss.

"Boo nose," she grins.

Once they're inside the bathroom, Boo gets deposited on the edge of the sink while Kate towels her hair, her shoulders, her arms and torso.

Kate holds out yet another nametag-filled shirt to help Boo into.

Boo giggles rather a lot and babbles in a happy fashion at the Eskimo kisses.

When Boo is deposited on the sink, she twists around and reaches for the faucet. She touches it and starts twisting knobs until the water comes on.
She grins in a triumphant way and then puts her hand under the water so that it sprays eeeeeverywhere.

She laughs and squeeeeeeels.

-- which effectively undoes Kate's toweling efforts.

"Boo," she laughs, "the point is to get dry."

In this latest game of Help Me Help You, Kate turns the faucet off and resumes toddler-toweling duty.

Boo pouts and reaches for the faucet again.

Maybe if she's all sneeeeaky Kate will not notice...

Oh, but Kate does notice. It's hard not to when she's drying off the arm that's reaching for said faucet.

"Here we go, Gracie-Boo," Kate says in a blatant distraction attempt, holding out Boo's clean, dry shirt again. "Almost done, and then there's hot chocolate and Fred in your future."

But there's water spraying which can be done NOW. Boo doesn't like the whole 'waiting' concept.

And so she continues the reaching for the faucet.

OOOH WATER!

Boo's determination prompts Kate to lift Boo from the counter and gently set her on the floor.

Another ~~probably~~ unpopular move, but Kate really doesn't want Boo to get sick because of the nearly-naked watersports earlier.

She holds out the shirt with a hopeful smile.

Boo's face crumbles when she's set on the floor and she reaches towards the sink.
"Wad'r!"

Kate reaches out to twirl one of Boo's damp pigtails in apology.

"I know," she nods. "But you just played in the water outside, remember? Time to be dry now, so you can have more hot chocolate. And visit Fred."

Boo seems to consider this for a moment, then brightens.

"Ink!

F'ed issss!" She makes a dash towards the door - outside of which these wonders await!

"Hang on — "

Kate snags Boo and gives her another Eskimo kiss.

"Gotta get dressed first," she reminds her with a laugh, holding up the shirt again and inclining her head toward the rest of Boo's clean clothes.

Boo giggles like crazy at the Eskimo kiss and is still grinning when she's placed back on the floor.

She points to the shirt. "Boo!"

Kate chuckles and nods.

"Boo," she agrees, helping the toddler into the T-shirt.

Dry underwear and pants are next, followed by a pristine pair of jingly white bunny slippers.

With Mission: Redressed accomplished, Kate towels Boo's damp hair a bit more, then gives her a grin.

"Hot chocolate?"

"F'ED ISSS!" Boo runs to the door.

jinglejinglejinglejingle!

"Fred it is," Kate concedes, half-laughing as she follows behind Boo. She holds out a hand for Boo to hold as she opens the door.

"But we need to see if Bill's back yet, okay? Maybe he wants to meet Fred, too."

OOOO! Boo approves of this idea! And so she ~~once again~~ ignores Kate's hand and instead ruuuuuuuuuuns out of the door.

"BILL TOME F'ED ISSS! F'ED ISSS BILL!" She dashes past where she had previously been sitting with Bill cake.. and then does a double take.

...

Bill cake?

BILLLL CAAAAAKE!

She climbs up on the stool and manages several tastes of the Bill cake and pink ice cream before she notices that beside the Bill cake is an envelope! Oooooo. AN ITEM OF MYSTERY! She reaches for it and discovers pretty, pretty pictures! ..and some papers. Which mean nothing to her. BUT! PRETTY PICTURES! With Bill in them! She thumbs through the pages (leaving pink fingerprints) making sure she got allll of the pictures out.

"Bill!" She points for no one in particular.

Kate comes up just in time to see Boo rifling through the contents of Bill's manila envelope.

"Boo, sweetheart, hang on, these are Bill's — "

She begins brushing the crumbs and ice-creamy prints off the papers and photos as best she can when she realizes what she's looking at.

There's a marriage certificate to Rosie O'Donnell, photos of three dark-haired children, a tabloid clipping of Bill walking hand-in-hand on the beach with Jennifer Aniston (a very topless Jennifer Aniston, with the requisite black bar strategically placed) ...

Realizing she's unintentionally staring, Kate blinks and starts organizing the papers into a neat (but sticky) stack so she can slip them back into the envelope.

As if on cue Bill comes nearly tumbling down the stairs, in a clean pair of clothes with wet uncombed hair and a towel still in hand.

"Crap, crap, crap." He mutters as he lands at the bottom of the stairs and starts looking around on the floor amongst Boo's scattered toys. Not spotting what he's looking for there he turns his head up to the bar and sees the manila evelope. In Kate's hands.

"Crap."

Boo notices Bill. "BILL!" She points at him.

"BILL!" She points to the envelope.

And then, remembering what initially started the Bill Hunt "BILL TOME F'ED ISS!"

Kate turns, flushing guiltily as she slides the stack inside the envelope and closes the flap.

"Sorry," she winces. "I didn't — Boo found this before I could keep her from opening it."

Apologetic as she is, she can't keep a wry half-smile from her lips.

"You never told me you were leading a triple life, sheriff."

A toddler shouting out your name and pointing makes it awfully hard to run away. Not that Bill was considering it or anything.

"That's not real." Is his quick response to the envelope and its contents as he walks over.

Boo does not care about the envelope with the pretty pictures of Bill. But she DOES care about Fred the fish. And thus! She hops down from the stool (even though leaving unfinished Bill cake is difficult) and tugs on Bill's hand. "BILL TOME F'ED ISS!" She looks at Kate, then and Bill and tugs again.

"F'ED ISS!"

This is EXCITING STUFF!

Kate just laughs as she holds out the envelope.

"I figured as much — unless Rosie O'Donnell switched preferences in your world."

Half a beat and a grin.

"But Jennifer Aniston's a catch. How'd you manage that?"

She looks down at Boo's excited tugging.

"She wants you to come meet Fred."
