Pent up energy is never a good thing. And while Jenny has found some old and new ways to expel such, there's nothing like her favourite. Which is why she's outside today, dressed in new clothing as provided by Bar (tank top and shorts, all brightly coloured) and running around the lake.

So far, going for runs outside has proven to be much nicer than running through the tunnels of Messaline. Actually, everything has been much nicer than the life she was born into.

...she'll probably give you an excited rundown of that everything if you stop her!

"Of course I can fly. What do you think the wings are there for?"

She shrugs. "They could just be there to attract a mate."

Medusa appears to choke at this.

Jenny just blinks.

She couldn't help it. The topic has been permanently impressed in her mind.

"Monsters usually don't appear in great enough numbers to have an attracting another type...thing."

Beat.

"And the two other Gorgons in the world are my sisters."

Another beat.

"And we do not have sex, thank you."

Jenny's world is still much simpler. Enough so that Medusa's response gets a frown.

"I never said you were a monster," she replies with confusion. And then a momment later, said with all the naiveness possible - not to mention the wide eyed awe of a girl who's had sex for the first time, "That's too bad, though. The second part. It's quite fun after all!"

"...No, you didn't. But I did. I am not god, I am not nymph, I am not human. I am a monster, like my mother and most of my full-blooded siblings and my nieces and nephews. It's everyone else who has a problem with it."

A quick smile.

"I'm...gathering that. But we don't."

Yeah. Still not entirely getting it.

"Why does everyone else have a problem with it?"

"Because humans took the word 'monster' and used it as an insult to describe those of them who acted...well, like us. Although humans are more sophisticated. And then the gods followed suit and those of them who like me don't like me using it to describe myself."

"So monster wasn't always a word used to harm then?"

She shrugs.

"It's just...what my mother's children tend to be. You might as well use 'god' as an insult."

But all the gods Jenny knows are rather nice. She sighs and shakes her head.

"Gotts be simpler. You do have a name, right? Mine's Jenny."

"I have a couple of names. But, I'm Medusa."

"Medusa. It's a nice name."

"Oh. Thank you! I don't think...anyone's ever said that before."

Jenny grins, despite a new inkling of confusion. Humans, she's decided by now are just strange.

"You're welcome! Did your... did your mum pick it out for you?"

Medusa would agree.

"Yes, she did."

For a brief moment, she can't help but wonder what it must be like to have a mum. A proper one, that is.

"She has good taste, then."

A flicker of amusement.

"I'll pass that along, next time I see her."

"Is she nice? Your mum?"

A quick, sharp grin.

"Not particularly. But I love her."

"And your dad?"

"Oh, everyone likes him. He's very polite, and very kind."

Grin!

"I think my dad's like that. He's absolutely amazing. Such a soldier and, at the same time, better than any soldier I've ever known."

"Pappos isn't a soldier - I don't think he could be."
