Pent up energy is never a good thing. And while Jenny has found some old and new ways to expel such, there's nothing like her favourite. Which is why she's outside today, dressed in new clothing as provided by Bar (tank top and shorts, all brightly coloured) and running around the lake.

So far, going for runs outside has proven to be much nicer than running through the tunnels of Messaline. Actually, everything has been much nicer than the life she was born into.

...she'll probably give you an excited rundown of that everything if you stop her!

"Hi!" Jenny beams, eager to get a closer look at the bike. "What is that?"

"This thing I ride? It is called a speeder bike," Teja says. "A friend of mine named Atton Rand made it for me, in exchange for me making the parts for both mine and his own."

Enthusiastically, "Oh! It looks like loads of fun!"

Pause, while Teja considers.

"It is," he says. "Would you wish to ride pillion on it?"

"Yes!" And before Teja has a chance to react, he is getting an arm full of a very happy blonde. Hugs are a good way of saying thank you, aside from stating the obvious. "Thank you!"

Teja is somewhat taken aback; normally strangers, especially female strangers, would not embrace him immediately.

But maybe, she is just an enthusiastic young woman?

"Sit on the speeder bike behind me, then!" he invites.

A very enthusiastic young woman still learning the concept of personal boundaries.

She beams at him and does what he says, finding herself a seat on the back of the bike. Everything Teja does is studied with intense scrutiny.

"How does it operate?"

"I would start it with this button," Teja says, "and if I turn this handle" -- he does -- "then it will move."

It does.

"By this handle bar, I guide it, as one would a horse by its bridle."

He does, turns, speeds up, and goes on riding the speeder bike along the lake shore.

Right. She has no idea what a horse is, but the rest is simple enough to follow. And the ride is absolutely brilliant.

Jenny laughs in delight. "Think your friend could get me the blueprints to one of these?"

"You must lean into the turns with me," Teja says before turning steeply around a tree.

"I am certain he could," he says then, "but do not know if he would."

A good soldier does know when to follow orders and thus Jenny leans along with him at the turns.

"Why not?"

"He can be somewhat contrary!" Teja shouts against the wind. Their speed is considerable, now.

Jenny laughed excitedly as the wind whipped her ponytail behind her.

"Can you ask? Please?"

"I can!" Teja says. "The next time I see him! But it would have its price!"

"I have money!"

Teja takes a turn, and races for a while before slowing down again. "He might ask for technology from your world," he then says.

She nods. "I can do that, too."

"These vehicles are truly amazing," Teja then volunteers, before speeding up again, so fast one may not speak.

No speaking is necessary. Only screaming and laughing.

This? Is almost as amazing as one of Bart's superspeed runs.

Teja muses, quietly, that speeder bikes will elicit amazing noises from women.

Indeed, such speed is the next most exhilarating thing.-

Meanwhile, as Jenny's arms tighten around Teja's waist so she doesn't fall off, she can't help but wonder what Bart will think of this.

She's so going to have to beg this man's friend for blueprints if he refuses.

Teja races around the lake twice; it takes time.

But then he stops.

"One hopes you are still alive, back there?" he asks.

"Definitely," she responds happily. "Don't stop. This is brilliant!"

For variety's sake, Teja turns off the path and races into the woods, among the trees. A speeder bike, hovering over the ground, needs no streets, nor even mud paths.

The moment the Teja turns, she whoops excitedly again.

"Can you go faster?"
