Hurley sits at the bar, staring at the door back to the island.

Is he allowed to be just 'Hey guys, I found a magic bar in my cave, lets all go get a meal and a shower!'? Or... how does he explain how he suddenly seems to have showered?

Hurley suddenly realizes he has to keep 'magic bar in my cave' a secret.

And he's going to need to get dirty as soon as he gets back.

Which should probably be soon.

Since they might be worried about how long he's been gone.

Crap.

Hurley pouts and eats a leg of fried chicken. You know, for breakfast.

Death grins at him. This is because Death doesn't have the facial musculature to do anything but grin.

"...oh crap, I'm dead," Hurley says.

Hurley doesn't know what to say for a moment.

"So, like... you're him, then?"

Yes, he adds.

"...Does this mean I'm gonna die?" Hurley says, really hoping the answer is no.

Shane finishes her drink; a glass of Jack and Coke and thumps her head on the counter. She would really, really like to get the fuck out of here. Preferably before she turns into a goddamn alcoholic. Shane hasn't had much of anything to eat since she got here. And that was about two days ago. She's not even remotely hungry though. The smell of fried chicken just makes her want to puke.

"Ugh." She glances over at Hurley and grimaces a little.

"I really hope that was directed at my food and not me," Hurley says. "Because otherwise, dude, so not cool."

Shane presses a hand against her mouth and manages to shake her head.

"No. I'm just-" She swallows. "I've had a little too much to drink." She stops one of the rats and orders a cup of coffee for herself, offering to get one for Hurley.

"Thanks," Hurley says. "Hangover, huh?"

"Of the shittiest kind." She rubs at her face and rests her head on her arm. "...I just got here about two days ago so." She lets the sentence hang.

"I'm Shane."

"Ditto," he says. "Ummm, I'm Hurley."

"Hurley?" Shane nods. "Well. Hi. Here." She pushes a cup of coffee to Hurley and takes a sip of the bitter liquid, grimacing slightly.

"...I honestly don't know what the fuck I'm doing here."

"You don't?" Hurley snorts a laugh. "Dude, I walked into a cave and ended up here."

Sitting just a few seats down the bar from Hurley is Max, who's attacking a stack of waffles as though he hasn't eaten in months.

It's just.

These waffles.

They taste JUST LIKE THE ONES HIS MOM MAKES.

And she hasn't made them for him in years.

Waffles.
