Sometime shortly before this, Nita enters the bar.

And while the Suit she's wearing doesn't quite resemble the one in the icon -- it's still very black and very snazzy.

She's taking a well-deserved coffee break somewhere that doesn't have Neeble.

Ignore the distracted seven-year-old wandering by with a book, notebook and pen, translating Nietzche into Japanese as she walks.

...because she can, that's why.

...the telekinesis helps considerably. Otherwise she wouldn't have enough hands.

Nita watches, unabashedly impressed -- and she hasn't even picked up on the translation bit.

She navigates absently to a nearby table, sits, and lets the book settle out of the air onto the available surface.

There. That's better.

Grinning, Nita breaks into a smattering of applause, and cranes to see the title of the book.

Tilda looks up from her book (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thus_Spake_Zarathustra) to see who's clapping, and offers Nita a bright smile after a momentary search.

"Heavy reading," she begins, approvingly, and then breaks off, blinking.

"--Matilda?"

Is that right? It's been at least a year since she saw her.

"Yes, that's me. Have we met? You look familiar..."

Thoughtful headtilt.

She grins sheepishly, and leans over, holding out a hand.

"I think so, a while ago. Nita Callahan. Wizard."

"Oh!"

Beaming, Matilda shakes her hand.

"You're the one with the universal language, is that right? Gosh, it's been a long time, hasn't it."

"Well, well, well. Don't we look like a million bucks," drawls a voice from one of the nearby tables.

Duo flicks a wave at her.

Nita beams, tugs the jacket straighter, and flicks some nonexistent lint off the lapel.

"Wait, wait, it gets better."

Because it comes with Ray-Bans, of course. She flips them out, slides them on, and poses.

Duo breaks out into spontaneous applause. "You know, denying the end of the universe your sparkling presence before now is just cruel. You don't want to be cruel, do you, Nita?"

"Heck, I'm Oath-bound against it. I'll have to spend more time here to make up for it."

She shoots a wry glance over her shoulder at the door. "If Zed'll let me sneak away from work, that is."

"I HEARD. What is this about, anyway? Your job isn't dangerous enough? You have to throw the Big Boss into the mix? You might be braver than me."

He is aghast! Or at least seriously amused.

"Hey, it's been over a year since my last near-death experience. And it'll look good on my resume!"

"They're not gonna flashy-thing you once you're done? Not that I don't have utmost confidence in your ability to dodge them, but they're tricky."

Duo is pretty sure he has managed to escape it so far. Not entirely, but.

"Not that I've heard, but" -- she shrugs -- "would they tell me if they were planning on it?"

Not too far away there is a small blue extraterrestrial fiddling with a minature... is that a cannon? Whatever it is, the creature is humming cheerfully to himself as he carefully points the objects barrel at the ceiling.

This, uh. Looks like it bears watching. Carefully.

Apparently satisfied with the cannon's position, Stitch patters off to the Bar and returns in short order with a plate full of meatballs. The alien licks a finger, holds it up in the air with an expression of deep concentration. He nods to himself, moves a few inches to the left, tilts his head upwards and opens his jaws astonishingly wide. Then, without shifting position, he reaches out and fires the cannon.

Oh this is going to go so badly.

As she watches, mesmerized, the recoil of the cannon makes the barrel shift a few crucial centimeters.

Nita hits the floor.

So do a fair number of the meatballs.

Munchmunchmunchmunch.

The solitary meatball that actually stayed on target is consumed. Loudly. Stitch glances around taking in the mayhem.

"Grrr."

That was not nearly as successful as he'd hoped. Have to compensate for that recoil... He begins gathering up wayward meatballs for a second run.

A meatball comes rolling towards him from beneath Nita's table.

"I think this is yours."

It's speared by a claw.

"Takka," absently.

The meatball disappears in much gnashing of teeth.

"You do this kind of stuff often?"

She appears torn between amusement and mild disapproval.

Amusement is winning.
