Coyote leans up against the bar. It's quite warm in Sedona, even on a clear night like tonight. She's wearing a skirt that comes inches within violating a bar rule and high-heeled sandals.

She's smoking, and smiling.

"Well, ambitious. And paranoid." Max grimaces, "It's a nasty combination."

He leans in conspiratorially, "She keeps trying to kill me."

He doesn't lean back out.

"Well," Max grins at the lack of objection, "I'm a bastard, and she's terribly paranoid that I'm going to try to take my father's title from my half-brother."

He rolls his eyes, "What would I do with it? Talk about headaches I don't need!"

It really hasn't ever occurred to Max that his step-mother's fears are not entirely unfounded. He's popular enough to make a credible go at it, after all.

Max's eyes follow that finger as it circles, his attention caught.

It takes a moment before he remembers to offer some sort of response. "Precisely. Hence the legions. It's a lot harder for her to kill me when I'm on the other side of the empire."

"I'm glad you like it," he sounds admiring too. Just... probably for different reasons than she does.

"I'm not too bad at other tricks either."

For a moment Max considers asking if he could join her in these... plans, but decides not to. This time.

He smiles, leaning back away from her, and smirks. "I shall, of course, be devastated by your leaving, Elizabeth, but I shall live on in the hope of seeing you again."

Max's eyes follow her intently as she pushes away from the bar.

He hates to see her go, but he sure enjoys watching her walk away.
