Coyote leans up against the bar. It's quite warm in Sedona, even on a clear night like tonight. She's wearing a skirt that comes inches within violating a bar rule and high-heeled sandals.

"A wicked step-mother?" Coyote hazards. It is traditional, but Max doesn't exactly come across as a damsel in distress.

He leans in conspiratorially, "She keeps trying to kill me."

"Do you perhaps, stand in the way of inheritance? Or does she just not enjoy the pleasure of your company?" Silly of her.

He rolls his eyes, "What would I do with it? Talk about headaches I don't need!"
It really hasn't ever occurred to Max that his step-mother's fears are not entirely unfounded. He's popular enough to make a credible go at it, after all.

It takes a moment before he remembers to offer some sort of response. "Precisely. Hence the legions. It's a lot harder for her to kill me when I'm on the other side of the empire."
