It was just a single step, but you don't always take the same path.
Yunno is hard at work with a box of electronics and a series of textbooks. Well, really he's more inside the box of electronics and ducking out to consult The Encyclopedia of Electric Circuits or an apparent High School text Fundamentals of the Mass Effect: a Modern Approach.
This is what leads to a ferret with a wire wrapping tool humming under his breath and occasionally muttering about advanced physics.

Tiny Tag: Yunno Scrya

The ferret on the other hand? Makes him *twitch*, and eye it warily.
Blame bad memories.

Yunno looks up from the book and spots Draco.
"Hello there."
no subject
"Hello?" More wary looks.
no subject
"Can I help you with something? My name is Yunno Scrya, Scrya being the family name."
Then he gives a small bow.

no subject
"It depends really. Being small like this is good for tight work and makes me much harder to hit. Plus it's comfortable."

And then does so.

Arf could totally take him."Are you pushing the extra mass into a pocket space or just raising your density and countering it with an anti-gravity effect instead?"
Magi-tech canon. What can you do?
no subject
"What are you talking about? It's magic."
no subject
"Well mine is to, but don't you care about the mechanics? Take my change for example. I use a portion of the cells for each part of my body as a ferret. Then I shift the remainder into a linked subspace pocket until I change back."
no subject
Draco then blinked, "Subspace? What the Merlin is that?" Well, ever heard of a particle physicist in canon Wizarding World? Yeah, me neither.
no subject
"It's- look, think of it as a pocket of reality pinched off from the rest of the universe that I can shift things in and out of. I have the math for it if you're interested in a trade?"
no subject
"Awww..."
He feels totally justified in this and in the big grin on his face - it's adorable!
no subject
"Hello, could you hold this for a moment?" asks Yunno indicating a fairly large piece of plastic with holes punched in it, "I need to get the first part straight before I can connect that one."
no subject
"Okay...uhm, what is it?"
no subject
"I'm trying to build the demonstrator they show in the book." The last word is accompanied with a rear foot pointed at the high school text book. "Ah, got you."
That is followed with a series of clicks and snapping noises from inside the box with Yunno.
no subject
"What's a demonstrator?" he asks.
no subject
He reaches out with both front paws.
no subject
"It looks really complicated."
no subject
"It's not to bad," judges Yunno, "My name is Yunno Scrya, please call me Yunno."
The last phrase is muffled again as he heads back into the box.
no subject
"But just Momiji's fine."
no subject
"Good to meet you Momiji," says Yunno after he slides the last connection into place, "Are you doing anything interesting lately?"
Yunno is poor at small talk. Thank goodness he meets most of his friends, the first time anyway, during fights.
no subject
Momiji rubs a hand along the back of his neck, looking mildly apologetic about not having in awesome adventures to recount. But awesome adventures are hard to come by, where he's from, and he's learned that regaling new acquaintances with accounts of shopping trips and games of cops and robbers is often not the best idea.
"It's not really as neat as making your own...demonstrator-thing."
no subject
"Ah. I've been stuck here for a bit now. Otherwise I wouldn't be tinkering around with this," Yunno stops to think for a moment, "What are you doing at school? I didn't go to a school really, you see."
no subject
"Did they not have school for ferrets, in your world?"
no subject
"Not for ferrets no, but I'm not always one. I think I'd miss my thumbs a great deal if I could never turn human again," says Yunno, "We, the Scrya clan I mean, move around a lot. I learned most of what I know from home classes or working along side clan members on digs or in a library."
no subject
Momiji smiles wide, grabbing a chair and slipping into it with an eager look on his face. It's not every day you meet someone else who turns into a furry mammal, occasionally.
"So, why's your clan move around so much?"
no subject
"We went where the work was. Scryas are well, mostly we work as scholars and researchers. You have to go to new dig sights to find unique artifacts and most libraries keep the really interesting books inside and don't loan them out."
"What's your family like?"
no subject
The teen pauses for a second at the question about his family, trying to think of exactly how to phrase it.
"It's really big. And really old, too - we have this huge estate, back home, where a ton of Sohmas live, and then the rest are all sort of spread out across Japan."
no subject
Then.
"It must be nice sometimes to have everyone close," says Yunno, "I have friends in Japan and we've just sort of all adopted each other."
no subject
Momiji tilts his head at the ferret thoughtfully, before bringing a hand up and resting it against it.
"Is that where you live? For now, anyway?"
no subject
no subject
Talking, space voyager ferret-people? Some days are just too cool, Momiji thinks.

And nobody filed a freaking thing between when the service was founded and when he was hired, is how he feels most days.
