o/` Hello, email, my old friend
Strong Bad's checkin' you again... o/`

Dear Strong Bad,
Why come you and The Cheat never go in Milliways anymore? Are you too famous, or just too busy?
Mournfully munful,
Austin
Chambersburg, PA

Make up your mournful mind, mister! Are you in Austin, Tejas, or this Chambersburg place?

But anyways, nobody's too busy or too famous for that place. We just haven't had a good enough reason lately.

Guess who's inna bar that hasn't been in a while? And one of them's even singing.

"o/` Sweet, sweet The Cheat
Today is the date on your fake ID
Let's get to Milliways
And have us a party! o/`"

How's that for an entry post? And who knows? Maybe Diggy and that not-his-girlfriend of his will show up, or the old guy Jedi, or Samurai Hacker. Remember, a better Milliways depends on YOU!

Bertie is in an excellent mood.

For one thing, Jeeves has worked a bloody miracle, and his latest matrimonial scare has been most satisfactorily resolved in a way that didn't involve Bertie ending up at, or indeed anywhere near, a nuptial altar.

For another thing, he's discovered the piano.

This may or may not be good news for the other patrons of Milliways. Either way, there's a Wooster, dressed for dinner, sitting at the piano, playing rather enthusiastically. He's no Cab Calloway, but he does his best.

He could, perhaps, use a little help with the call and response bits.

Ianto, as always, is pleased to find himself in Milliways, and takes a seat at the bar, anticipating an endless cup of coffee and a night of good talk.

The napkin that pops up is no surprise, though. He reads it and nods. "Absolutely, I can do that."

He goes behind the bar and thinks for a moment, then writes on the specials board:

Tonight's Specials
Coffee
any way you like it

Ianto is a firm believer in sticking to one's strengths.

"Welcome to happy hour. What can I get you?"

Bela's sitting at the bar tonight. There are things she needs to do, but she's putting them off. She'll get to them. Soon.

Just not tonight.

She sips her dirty martini and turns the barstool so she can keep an eye on the room.

Tonight Felix has decided to go and open the door. He is somewhat startled and disturbed at what he sees.

Well, it's not every day that you look downstream in a flooding river from a vantage point that doesn't affect the flow of said river. It almost looks to Felix as though the water is flowing out through him.

Gilbert is actually in a pretty good mood, when he comes through the door, today. Or tonight, as the case may be - the glimpse of the world behind his door is mostly dark, at the moment, with only a hint of what might be fire-light off in the distance. Music wafts after him, a guitar and drums and one or two other instruments being played rather inexpertly.

He's swaying and almost-dancing, despite the rough-hewn quality of the melody, a motion that he keeps up even after the door snaps shut and he starts making his way across to the Bar. One foot continues to sway back and forth in time to the now-silenced tune, when he settles on a stool and slumps forward, head lolling against one of his hands.

...Underneath his nose, an iPod promptly appears, settled next to a bowl of some sort of meat stew.

The former is the one that gets stared at most forcefully.

Ramon is in the bar and is not in a good mood at all. No particular reason, he just gets like that sometimes. Company could either make it worse, or better, depending on who you are and what you have to say. Either way, he'd like to talk to someone because being pissed off on your own is never as much fun.

The door opens, and a grubby little girl skips in.

Holding her hand is a chimpanzee, wearing a waistcoat and bowler hat. He grins at anyone they pass, and raises the hat.

"Come on Sammy." Little Carlotta says, pulling him over to a booth, where they both sit. "You can sit here and surprise people!"

Sammy solumnly accepts the tea tray that a waitrat brings, and proceeds to pour himself a cup.

[OOM: "Monsieur le maire, that can't be done."]

It has been nearly two years for Javert since he set foot in Milliways, but he doesn't blink as he steps inside today. He is too overwhelmed, can scarcely breathe for the shock he's just experienced.

But shock is momentary, existing only long enough to give the senses time to adjust, and Javert's begins to dissipate with each step that brings him further inside, leaving room for thought:

How dare he? Who twists the law to absolve a criminal, and declares it justice at that?

Ah, but Javert knows who.

His hands are still trembling a bit from shock as he removes his hat and sets it on the Bar, but by the time he has finished unbuttoning his redingote, his motions have become the stiffly measured ones of a man whose temper - which he has always been able to keep in check - is beginning to rise.

Another criminal. That's who. A recidivist. An escapee.

Jean Valjean.

Michael sweeps into the bar fairly crackling with tension, brow furrowed, shoulders tight, stride wide and swinging.

The fact that she's got a cartoon rabbit giving the world the finger on her T-shirt is probably not coincidence.

"Coffee, Bar."

It's a short request, and sharp. She'll apologize for it later. But right now --

Right now she's got several challenges to be ready for.

Several challenges she has to decide whether or not to win.

It's -- difficult.

Michael doesn't quite throw herself onto the couch by the fire, but there's a level of force in her movements that could be labeled exessive.

And she's still scowling.

Giles is getting a little used to this whole Bar thing by now--he stumbled in through the stacks today, luckily in the middle of taking down information on the books. As he's merely organizing the card catalogue to prepare for the electonization of the cross-referencing system later this year, he might as well do his work in peace.

With lots of excellent tea.

There are a couple books on the table next to him, lots of cards, a pen currently in his mouth, and his tweed jacket draped over the back of the chair.

And a pot of steaming hot tea with a cup next to it. There's also scones with butter.

[oom:

River plans an April Fools prank that goes slightly sideways (damned demon rabbits).  They recover and end up hiking to Richard's den for a bit of a picnic*.

Later, she has written up more of her research and Richard reads her notes, and responds.

And finally, at the full moon, a nightmare brings River out into the woods to meet the Wolf face to face.

There is a demon at the bar, having a drink.

Or two.

Or three.

No, there's no real reason for it, except that alcohol is damn good.

Botherable.
