[Once upon a time out of Milliways:

Yesterday, Andrew ran into Duck, who discovered very suddenly that she was no longer Bound ... and invited Andrew to her world to help look for traces of Mytho.

Their search was not entirely successful ... but Andrew may have learned something else of value.

The front door opens. "--raven, and I was wondering oh hey look where we are."

Andrew and Duck have returned to Milliways.

This morning, Val comes downstairs and Expandleaves a note for Weyland with Bar. )

That done, she asks Bar for a bow and a quiver of arrows. When they materialize, she collects them and the oblong box she came down with and heads for the practice range out back.

Two quivers later, her skills at archery are improving (she manages to hit the target four times) but she still has a ways to go.

Suggestions or a distraction are welcome.

Ellen will be going back to find Three Dog again shortly and get the last information she needs out of him. Her bartending shift the other day paid her tab rather nicely, but it seldom hurts to have extra caps; therefore she's settled at a table with a sign up.

Small repairs and odd jobs done while you wait. Sewing, basic electronics, firearms maintenance, etc. (Nothing with micro-chips, though.) Very reasonable rates.

In the meantime, she's going to be reading that copy of Lying, Congressional Style that she and Annabelle found in the mutant encampment.

A long, long time ago, Ray got spectacularly drunk with his friend Garion to celebrate the arrival of Garion's first daughter, Beldaran. The end result was an amazing amount of advanced math scribbled all over the walls and most of the ceiling of Ray's room here at Milliways. Ray has been working on deciphering it ever since. The other day, he did not get drunk. However, he spent a little time talking with La Fee Vert before going upstairs to sleep off some jet lag.

It may be some time before he returns to New York, if the look on his face as he picks his way through the stack of table-sized sheets of paper covered on both sides with mathematical scribblings is anything to go by.

Moist will say this for being stuck in the bar: It's giving him a few ideas for when he does get home.
Like the whole bartending thing. No, he's not jumping in today, but... it's surprisingly easy, in a way, when he doesn't have to worry about getting stuck to the stuff in the freezer or dropping glasses and bottles without even trying. If he can handle the biggest supply line in the known universe, he can handle the Union's stock, more than likely.
Today, he's focusing on the cards thing. Who knows when the next poker night is going to be, but he intends to be ready for it - he's not counting on sweeping the night or anything, but he knows everyone will underestimate him.
And, well, solitaire might not be the exact same thing, but it's getting him more used to handling the cards. He's still kind of enjoying the fact that he can.

"That's it Mairi...wiggle...there's a good lil girl..."

Today, for your dose of adorable in Milliways...Dot is sitting with Mairi strapped into her little baby seat on the top of the booth's table. Ever since Mairi figured out flying...getting her to develop other abilities, like the basics of attempting to crawl...

So...Dot's been a working out a little regimen...for a few minutes whenever Mairi's awake and up to it, Mommy's been playing the 'paddle your feet' game.

It mostly involves Mom moving little bootied baby-feet and legs into tiny bike-pedaling motions and giving lots of raspberries.

No objecting to a little company, new or old friends alike.

Not long after the conversation with Ianto yesterday, Cal realized that he had a Door. His heart leapt for just a second, before he realized what must be on the other side.

And what can't be on the other side.

He isn't going through today - even if he wanted to, where would he go? He hasn't found a place to live yet. Instead, he's at a table, fiddling with a camera he got from Bar a little while ago.

It's a digital camera, an idea Cal is vaguely familiar with, but the pictures it takes are far clearer than any digital photos he's ever seen. He is from 1997, after all.

(Not anymore, though.)

Cal is playing with the controls and taking experimental pictures, trying to get a feel for it. (He's not paying any attention to his Door at all.) Anyone who approaches is fair game. Hope you're feeling photogenic.

Annabelle hasn't had an entrance post in quite some time, but she's been around, really! Blame her mun.

At the moment, she's sipping coffee and doodling in the margins of a crossword puzzle.

(OOM: In which Laranth's world expands, though it isn't a terribly fun experience for her.)

The front door slides open, split down the middle with a whir of mechanics, and one slim, green-skinned gal in tan trousers and shirt gets tossed through, the lightsaber in her hand still humming a somewhat clashing shade of blue.

She manages to catch hold of a supporting pillar as she goes by it, thumbing the blade off.

Now.

How to land.

She has, approximately, a few seconds to sort this out.

Oh dear.

Cruella paces her house. This is not working. That little pipsqueak has been more trouble than she's worth. Months of trying with no results.

Suddenly she stops.

Maybe there's another way the runt can be of some use.

A half hour later the fur-clad woman enters the door of Milliways. She walks carefully over to the notice board and, after posting something up, is back through the door.

Dear patrons of Milliways:

You may have noticed that one of your smaller patrons has been absent of late. I "borrowed" her so that I could enter the world that only she has access to - unfortunately the runt pipsqueak child has been less than helpful, leaving me with few options. Thus I give you five days to help me find a way to grant me access to that world or else I may be forced to discontinue my impeccable care of the one so important to you.

Cheerio,

Cruella

Beneath is a small, not very clear picture of Boo. Her hair is dirty and unkempt and her clothes look like they haven't been changed in the several months since she left the bar. Her eyes are duller than normal and she's looking away from the camera with an uncertain expression. It's difficult to tell for certain, but it seems like she might have lost a bit of weight. To make matters worse, the background is less than tidy.

Teja is in the forge, working. He is humming to himself, darkly and steadily.

The cats are sleeping by the forge fire, ignoring the noise of the hammer on steel and anvil, as well as the singing.

Anybody is welcome: - the door is open!

Gilbert has playing cards with him, tonight.

They're not his, exactly. It's amazing what some of the upperclassmen at his school don't notice getting picked up, when they're busy studying. But they are quite pretty, with the symbols and suits on each slip drawn into some sort of fanciful design, and they seem to have a firm hold on the boy's attention.

He's staring down at the table and dealing out what looks roughly like a game of Baccarat - Baccarat with a very weak grasp of the rules, perhaps, because there are a few too many cards here or too few there, now and again. Or it might just be a semi-random flop of cards.

Needless to say, his head is firmly planted in the clouds, at the moment. He might not appreciate distraction, but it would probably be healthy?

What Tumnus has written of his book is in a pile on the table in front of him as he plays his pipe and tries to not let doubt seep too far into him.

He's sure that Merlin knew what he spoke of but he does not wish to write a false or half told history of Narnia, but he missed such parts of it, how can he write a true one.

So he plays, the music holds a small touch of magic to soothe a worried heart though sadly it is not soothing his own.

Can it really have been that long already?

Malcolm is sitting at the bar with a smirk on his face as he makes his way slowly through a double scotch.

Three years after starting on Jack Bauer's fitness program (Malcolm's never felt better--for a dead guy); three-and-a-half years since he first yanked on Peter Venkman's fake hair; nearly three years since that trouble with the Armageddeon Clock, when he thought it might really be Last Call. And over two years since he first met his ancestor, Catherine Crowe, and discovered there might be good reason why his afterlife has turned out to be so interesting.

Good times. And really, really, seriously cracked times too.

It makes a dead shrink have to chuckle.

[oom: Another half term passes by. Angela has a bad day.]

Carlotta is dressed in her pyjamas and dressing gown, and is looking through a scrap book on a sofa in the corner.

The more she thinks about it, the more pieces are missing from the story of what happened to her parents. And suddenly, she has a desire to find them and piece it all together.

She stops at a brown and white photograph, gets a magnifying glass, and peers at it.
