Mar. 11th, 2012 03:51 pm(OOM:
every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end)
Unlike the last couple of times she's been in, Claudia is not in the rafters today. She needed a break from clambering around up there, there's only so much she can do for the sound system at the moment anyway, and... well. If Mrs. F wants a report on the apocalypse (all of them), then she'll damn well get a report, and Claudia would rather get that out of the way as quickly as possible.
But she's also going to take full advantage of the time stoppage here to do it, since she has a feeling it's gonna take a while.
So she's at a table, with her laptop open, occasionally typing stuff into her word processor as she figures out how to explain things (and wondering just how many questions Mrs. F's going to have about T-Minus). There's a cupcake with a candle in it sitting next to her laptop; she's long since blown out the candle, but she hasn't eaten the cupcake yet.

Mar. 11th, 2012 03:57 pmThe fences have been repaired. The roof and loft has been inspected, and the holes have been patched over with wood and tarpaper. The rack room has been set back to rights, and the mess that once coated the walls and floors of the stalls has been scrubbed and washed away.
There are still minor things that need to be fixed, yes, but the staff is doing a good job of working hard to ensure that things are being put back to the way they should be. The barn will likely always bear the scars of the apocalypse, to those that know where to look...but it is looking pretty good, so far.
Doc is out in the stables, today, working on giving the stock some attention. He has Cortez outside of the barn and tied loosely to a fence rail, checking his shoes after having given him a good brush-down.
This, he knows how to do. Fixing broken tables and chairs, not so much - so he'll spend his time out here, putting what he can back to 'normal'.
[Open until it scrolls! If anyone would like to check in w/ Doc re: the stables or just run into him, this is a good chance. :)]

Mar. 11th, 2012 04:24 pmGanymede is in the bar, with a large basket of blood oranges on the floor beside where he's laid out on one of the couches and a bowl to put the pith and seeds in, beside the larger one he's using to hold the usable parts of the fruit. He's fairly efficient with the knife that's being used to take the segments apart, handling it easily in either hand as he skins the edible peel away from the pith.
Consequently, the area around him--and the godling himself--are going to smell like blood oranges for a while. You're welcome to interrupt, or ask what in the world he's doing with that much citrus. He'll get around to moving towards the kitchen in a bit.

Mar. 11th, 2012 04:43 pmIt's been a long while since he was here. From his point of view, about four months. Four months of chasing interstellar dust clouds and ferrying envoys and cataloging G-class stars and not really finding anything that interesting. From what he can tell, it's been like that for a lot of captains and crews. It seems really odd.
So much so that Jim is wondering if he should take a few days here to rest. And while he notices out of the back of his eye that some things seem a bit different, just being back here is enough to make him feel better.

Mar. 11th, 2012 05:04 pm[OoM: It's been three days since Carl appeared...]
The door swings open slowly. Which doesn't objectively make any sense, because the door that opened on the other side was a sliding one, but that's the way Milliways rolls, it seems.
The fact that it still seems to be acting like that is reassuring to the woman who cautiously peers around it.
“Well,” Trudy says to Carl behind her, “the Bar still seems to be here. A little banged up, though.”
Carl has his hand on the door-frame, as if testing it for stability as his eyes scan the room.
“It still looks better than it did when I left it,” he says. “I think that's a good sign."
Trudy walks in, still a little cautious, hand hovering where her handgun should be (it's in the room behind her). She turns to face him, and grins crookedly as he walks in, letting the door swing shut behind him.
It doesn't vanish.
“Guess we better see what the damage is upstairs,” she says, and with that, the two make their way across the bar (each taking note of the repairs) before they disappear up the stairs.
[ooc: no tags, please! this is just to establish that they are back]

Mar. 11th, 2012 05:10 pmShepard enters the bar wearing a large rucksack. She carefully maneuvers her way to the Bar itself, heaves off the rucksack onto the surface, and asks for two papers, a pen, and safety pin. She then starts writing a note:
Alyx,
I got you that cyberwarfare VI. There's a holo-player with the manual in the left outer pocket, along with a pair of haptic feedback gloves (so you can use the holographic interface on both the gun and the VI itself).
Kaidan knows his way around these things, so if you can find him, ask him to give you some hands-on instruction. Happy hunting.
--Shepard
She pins the note to the rucksack and asks the bar to hold the whole package for Alyx Vance. Then she writes another note.
Kaidan,
I snagged Alyx a cyberwarfare VI with modular hardware so she can hack into Combine surveillance systems and do some recon for an upcoming mission. She's going to need some instruction in how to use the thing. Since you're actually trained for this kind of thing, do you think you can help her out? You can decide how I'll pay you back.
--Colene
She leaves this note, of course, for Kaidan Alenko. Then she gets herself a Cobb salad - you can get one (or something like it) on the Citadel, but it costs only slightly less than an arm and a leg over there.

Mar. 11th, 2012 07:12 pm"Aren't you looking a world of better."
The bar gets knocked on. The room, a look.
Then the book is drug out. Pages flipped through.
[Slowtiming for a shower! I'll be back for a few tags afterward and then bed.]

The door opens and a blonde in an over-sized T-shirt and socks comes through.
She'll just keep to the edges of the... crowd until she can get to the lost and found box and scrounge up an better outfit.
All the other strange will just have to wait until she has shoes and five minutes in the washroom.

Mar. 11th, 2012 09:03 pm"Whoa."
Dani's not sure what's more surprising: the fact that it looks like a major fight or something went down recently in the Bar, or the fact that her door has shown up in the entrance to Danny's bedroom.
"...the heck happened around here?"

Mar. 11th, 2012 09:28 pmAcknowledging the potential of your own death every time you hop in a cockpit doesn't prepare you to go quietly once death's staring you in the face.
(Too bad the old man's mad at her.)
Maybe it's overconfidence or maybe she's just as stupid as her mom always implied, but for a full minute after the Raider slams into her Viper on its way down Kara's sure that she can get herself out of this, that she can just pull up and stop herself from spiraling into the moon beneath them, that there's something she can do that will stop every alarm on the ship from blaring at her.
(She deserved the anger.)
The control panel rattles, altimeter going nuts. She's spinning too much and dropping too fast. There's nothing to do.
(She knows she hit at least six of the Raiders, maybe seven. Frak of a way to go. If you have to.)
Nothing except eject for the first time in her life since graduating from the academy. It takes all her effort to reach down and pull the emergency lever.
(She hopes the parachute works.)
The Viper's hatch opens up and releases her with a jolt. Her helmet knocks against the ship's side as she's given up to the initial free fall.
[OOC: This post locked, if you please! Thanks!]
