Serenity's got about another 32 hours before they hit Ezra.

The waiting before a job is usually the worst part, and today Mal is feeling it more so than others. He's checking in with the bar when he receives an eyepatch and a watergun the likes of which he hasn't seen since that ridiculous Assassin game in April.

There's a smirk when he shoves the eyepatch into his pocket, hopping behind the bar and scrawling out a sign before asking Bar for a 3' by 5' cloth.

Mal walks out the door to the lake, damn near whistling.

[ooc: I'm on gchat for any coordinating that might want to happen. Uh. It's not a huge boat, but it'll do. I'll put up an organizing post somewhere if this gets people involved.

He holds up his other hand in a Ninja's Honor salute.

Mike puts down his drink and sets about pouring one for Knox.

"That's what they tell me. And by they I mean Bar."

He pauses.

"Rachel's gone?"

"I think so?" He sits under the tree. "It's like...it's like I have this odd feeling she isn't here. A hunch, or something like that. Only, it's also like there's something I'm missing." Something that may or may not become clear as the days and weeks ~~and OOMs~~ pass. "She didn't say goodbye, but that's not here way.

"But she was big on pirates. She was friends that captain of the ship that used to be out here. If she were around, she'd be here. She'd be out there, in fact."

Mike nods.

"I know the feeling. I mean...I can't tell when people are or aren't here anymore. Been tied to Bar too long for that. So if people don't specifically tell me that they're going I have no idea where they are. It's like...Bar makes a column for them that doesn't ever go away, even if they do.

If that makes any sense."

"As much as anything around here does. I'm starting to learn to go with the flow. To relax and watch the pirate battles and get drunk and hang out with Raps and not worry too much." Even if he's going to really miss Rachel.

"You cannot fight the ocean, my son."

Says Mike in a voice far older and sage-like than his own.

"That a bit of ninja advice?" And can you give ninja advice on ITLaP Day?

"Nahhh, just regular advice. Ninja advice comes with a complimentary smack upside the head."

If you're lucky that smack comes bare handed.

"I guess it's okay advice. Just never tell me you can't fight City Hall. I've been doing for twenty years." More like 16 years, but who's counting?

Mike's eyes widen.

"Does it turn into a giant robot?"

"You take things way too literally, Mike. And if it did, it would probably stall out, fall over, and smell of motor oil and exhaust fumes."

"Heh, and that would affect Gotham how, exactly? Would anyone even be able to tell?"

"We might notice if the building actually got away. The damn thing is an eyesore, and we might be happy if it took a trip out of town. But otherwise...I don't know. As long as it did start eating everyone's cars, it might be an improvement."

CITY HALL!

This trailer even comes with it's own sound track.

"You almost sound like the Innaworld Guy in all those trailers." No, not really, but it's as good a tribute to the man as any. "But since it's Pirate Day, how do you think the giant City Hall Robot would fare against a boodthirsty pirate crew."

Mike considers this, because it's something that bears honest and deep consideration.

"They'd have to be pirates from the future or space pirates or even steam punk pirates. And we'd have to decide right off the bat whether or not City Hall was a mindless killing machine in its own right, or a mere puppet of some other superior force."

"It's City Hall. It's always a puppet of someone else. Usually the Mob or someone just as corrupt.

"I think space pirates would be a bit weird, but maybe they have high tech toys like Bats?" He can't really see what a space pirate looks like, even though there are space pirates just yards, maybe even feet away!!

It's quite possible that soon both Knox and Mike will be overrun with space pirates! AIEE!

"They'd have to, I mean...unless City Hall just stayed close to the harbor."

"Gotham's on a island. You're never more than five miles from the water." That should help. Maybe. Or not.

His eyes widen.

"This could be the best thing ever!"

"Only if you really don't have to be there when it happens. Honestly, I think Gotham is better off without robots and pirates." His imagination only can go so far.

"It's true, what do you need robots and pirates for when you've got a guy who dresses up like a bat."

"Yup." Batman is never going to get old.
