Bela arrives, moving a little more slowly than usual, but with her familiar smirk. It's been an interesting day. In the end it was a quite profitable one, even if she's paid for it in bruises.

Ghosts can be so pesky when you try to take their treasures.

Jamie smiles back, open and cheerful and basically exuding vibes of 'nope, no threat here, no sir!', because this is also the kind of thing you learn to do if you want to live.

(Or at least not deal with a lot of painful near-death experiences.)

He lifts a stick with several marshmallows stuck on it in a salute.

Marshmallows? No, really, are those marshmallows? Maybe he's a Boy Scout.

Bela laughs and salute back.

Hey, what else are fireplaces good for?

Jamie grins, and gestures with the stick in a way that is meant to indicate his willingness to share, if people are so inclined.

No way. Boy Scout is actually offering her a marshmallow. This is too much.

She heads over anyway. Why not?

"You're pretty free with your marshmallows, it looks like."

"Well," Jamie says reasonably, "they're cheap."

More expensive things do not get offered away so easy.

Bela huffs, mock offended. She takes a marshmallow anyway.

She never got to be in Girl Guides when she was little. Toasted marshmallows taste much better than she ever thought they would.

"Not bad."

"Not bad?" Jamie echoes.

"That's pure toasted sugar you're eating! I think it deserves a little better than a 'not bad.'"

"It's very good. I've never had one before, but I knew what they were. In theory."

"Are they not something you eat on your world?" Jamie asks, tilting his head.

Perhaps Bela's people don't like pure sugar!

"No, they have them," she says. "I simply don't end up near campfires often."

"I'm not overly fond of camping out when I can avoid it," Jamie admits. "Give me proper civilization any day. Marshmallows are nearly the only perk."

So having marshmallows plus civilization is clearly the best bet!

"I'm a city dweller myself. I will visit the country, but I don't want to live there. So what's your name, Marshmallow Man?"

"I find myself in the country more than I'd like, but believe me, it's not by choice.

"I'm Jamie," Jamie says, and sticks out the hand that is not holding a stick-ful of marshmallows. "Pleased to meet you. And yourself?"

"Bela," she says, shaking back. "Are you from Earth or elsewhere?"

"I'm from Earth - an Earth, at least - but it's been a long time since I was back there."

He grins. "Most worlds I've been to call themselves something that means Earth anyways."

"You're a space traveler, right? I've met a few of those here."

[walksthebounds]

Jamie shakes his head.

"Not space. Never been in a spaceship at all."

He watches to see how she takes this. (Not that he's enjoying being cryptic or anything. Never!)
