Billy is curled in his usual spot by the fire -- he's been here long enough to have a usual spot -- and brooding over physics. Well, looking frustrated over physics and brooding between problems. He's a good multitasker.

Except apparently not, because sometime around problem thirty he chunks the book down with a clatter and makes a loud, frustrated noise. "I'm never going to use this anyway!"

Billy tips Teddy's chin toward him, so he can look Teddy dead in the eye. "It's not excuses. Don't put yourself down like that. You were tortured and we needed time to recover from that. But I'm not sure it's ever going to be completely better and we can't stagnate here."

Billy sighs, pressing his face into Teddy's shoulder. "We do these things not because they are easy--" He quotes, quietly.

"'--but because they are hard... because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one which we intend to win, and the others, too,'" Teddy finishes. "JFK, right?"

"Right." Billy agrees, just breathing in the scent of Teddy. It's a good scent. "We've got a war to fight."

"We've got a war to win," Teddy agrees, and pulls him tighter. "Oh, I love you so much, Billy."

And then to lighten the moment, because if he doesn't he is just going to start bawling* or something: "Are you still waiting to wake up?"

"Mm," Billy kisses Teddy's cheek. "I'm still hoping I don't ever."

Teddy leans his head against Billy's, and kisses his ear. "Same here."

"You would say that, dream-Teddy." Not that Billy, you know, minds.

"Fine, dream-Billy, two play at that game. You would say that too. Because I love your snark." Teddy pokes his nose.

Billy wrinkles his nose. "Well, good. Because I'm very good at snark and I don't intend to stop. Or wake up."

"But there isn't any waking up," admonishes Teddy. "This is real, and I love you, and you love me, and it's the best thing in the universe."

"Yup. The best thing in the universe at the end of the universe." Billy snuggles into Teddy's lap. "Mm. You're so much better than physics."

"It's true," Teddy nods sagely and snuggles back. "So're you. Why, did the physics call you mean names?" He's joking now as he melts into a pile of goo.

(Yogurt goo. They're past cheese.)

"It did. And took my lunch money." Ooh, Teddy-goo. His favorite. "Seriously, I've forgotten everything."

"It'll come back," Teddy says slowly. He has to be deliberate now. "We'll make it work."

"Yeah. I just hope this doesn't seriously mess with our chances of getting into a college." Any college. "We've missed so much school."

"Yeah, same here. You know I was looking at Carnegie Mellon before everything started, but now I dunno where would be best now."

"Mm. It's still an option, I think." Because Teddy is brilliant, in Billy's completely objective opinion. "I'm probably just sticking with NYU. They've got a good pre-law program and they're right in the middle of everything."

"Yeah, but it's so far is the problem. Even flying... especially given that we have no idea how that's gonna turn out. Mmmmm... That sounds good for you, though. You'll fit in there well."

"Yeah." He kind of wishes they could be together, but they want to do such different things. "I can teleport. It might be a good thing to be far away from everything..."

"Yeah, I mean. If you really wanted to, I could go to the same school as you." He'd do anything for Billy, after all. "They say that wherever you go undergrad really doesn't matter, as long as you're happy."

"Ted. This is your life we're talking about. You need to do what's best for you." He's dead serious about that. "Yeah, there are good schools in the city, but if there's somewhere else that you need to be? Go. I'll always be here when you get back."

"Yeah. I know. It's kinda been a dream of mine, to be honest. Just... wanted to make sure, with heroing and everything? That I wouldn't be backing down on the team. Have my cake and eat it too sort of deal."

"No. Absolutely not." Billy's sure everyone else would agree. And if not then he would beat some sense into them. "To be honest I'm not sure what's going to happen to the team when everyone graduates."

Teddy nods. "Because we will win the war."

He's certain. There's no other way.

"Of course we will." They've got Captain America. SHRA's got Iron Man. There's no way they can lose. "Kate said things get better. That has to mean we do."
